What an incredible Doctor! I highly recommend Dr. Kirk James and his team. Having recently moved to Charlotte, I needed to establish care with a dermatologist. Dr. James had quite a few very positive comments online so I scheduled an appointment. Check-in was a breeze and the beautiful lady who did so (second from the left) was so very friendly and upbeat. I then had a very short wait in the waiting room until a nurse team member walked me to the exam room. She was extremely efficient and very friendly while she asked me questions about my care. After a short wait, I met Dr. James. With a very warm and friendly personality, I knew in the first couple of minutes I had selected an outstanding doctor for my care. Dr. James was professional, taking the time to explain my care and carefully examining my skin. He is a friendly doctor and I look forward to continuing my care with him.

Rude, dismissive & incompetent. He did not explain anything & refused to answer questions. He appeared annoyed at having to talk to a patient & left the room quickly leaving the nurse to see me out. I was misdiagnosed & mistreated! He is a terrible doc! The staff & scheduling is also a problem. You will leave upset, disappointment & untreated!

I thought Dr. James was great.
I had a very good experience with Dr. James. He was direct and to the point, but I like this. He quickly diagnosed my problem and took the appropriate steps to put things in motion. I highly recommend him as a dermatologist.

Awesomely quick and easy
This was my first dermatology appointment in decades and it was great! Dr. James was thorough, explained things as he went and I was on my way. I had no wait time, the nurses were lovely, all in all a great experience.

Thank you!!
Atrium has its own issues and that shouldn’t reflect on Dr. James. He’s incredible at what he does and thoroughly answered all my derm concerns and got me on track with a better routine. Definitely worth the wait and I highly recommend.

BEWARE OF SCHEDULING AT ATRIUM
I do not recommend scheduling with Dr. James unless you know that you want to be assigned to him as your dermatologist forever. You have to NOT TREAT WITH HIM for THREE YEARS before you're not an "established patient" even if you saw him for 30 seconds on 1 occasion. Dr. James could have been sensitive to a teenage girl's wishes to treat with a specific female physician for acne that is causing her LOW SELF ESTEEM AND BULLYING AT SCHOOL, but he decided to take the easy route to follow ARCHAIC AND ILLOGICAL Atrium policy, when he had the ability to make an exception. He showed his true colors in forcing us to seek treatment elsewhere by choosing his ego and pride over patient care. I hope Dr. Adams can sleep at night toying with a teenage girl's emotional state. The Almighty and omnipotent Dr. Adams refused to "bestow" his permission for my daughter with someone more well-suited for HER. This practice was convenient to our home, and the physician we wanted came highly recommended.

The worst practice of any kind. The phone staff is very rude The next available appointment was 6 months out and they said I was unable to switch doctors. There is a wait list for cancellations, yet you have to call each morning to check to see if anyone has cancelled. My daughter saw Dr. James several weeks back. Everything he told her and recommended, we already knew by Google. No new additional information was given; only a prescription was written.

When I told Dr. James my couple concerns of my situation, he did not listen and only addressed on problem and didn't explain the situation to me and what would be the expectation of treatment. He lacks of the experiences and compassion as a physician. I won't recommend him to anybody.
