Wonderful doctor and person
I was admitted into the hospital at Cullman Hospital with severe stomach issues! Dr. Cottingham is my doctor and I do believe he saved my life! He found that I had pi loris stenosis and through several EGD’S and a stint that didn’t work at that time. I got better but Im still having to go back for EGD’S to stretch the pi loris open or to stay open. The next step is to try the stint again in bham but if I had my choice I wish Dr. Cottingham had the proper tools for the procedure! I recommend Cottingham to anyone that has anything going on that he can fix! Thank You!!!!

A #1 treatment, doctor and staff
I saw the nurse practitioner on both of my office appointments. I did not meet the doctor until the day of surgery just before going to the operating room.. However, the nurse practitioner was thorough and knowledgeable about what would happen, when it would happen, and how it would happen From my perspective the only negative what's the follow up appointment scheduling. They contacted me by email the day before an appointment that I did not know about. Rescheduling it was no problem. I will definitely return to Doctor Cottingham for any future surgeries.

Will never go back.
I see I’m one of the few that is writing a negative review. It must be because if someone has a bad experience, they tend to just not do a review especially for a doctor. Anyway, I go in with a hiatal hernia and in need of having my gallbladder out. From the testing to after surgery and now has been all downhill. I will say. He is a nice, polite doctor. But there is very bad communication between him and staff members in his office and with the hospital. The hospital was another problem but I won’t go there since this is about this Dr. I ask him at the hospital how far out do I need to make the follow up apt. He said don’t call, his office will call me with the date. But I knew it was suppose to be around 2 weeks out. I had not heard anything from them so I called and the nurse told me I was on the books for a certain date and time. They already scheduled it but failed to call me and inform me. I told them how was I suppose to just know this? I couldn’t arrange to be there the very nex

Love Dr Cottingham, his NP not so much
I firmly believe that Dr Cottingham is one of the best surgeons in the area. However, his nurse practitioner is very arrogant and apathetic. Apparently, Dr Cottingham let’s his nurse practitioner pick which patients need surgery or not, because of this, I have suffered needlessly with a condition that could have been easily fixed surgically that his nurse practitioner refused Dr Cottingham to fix. Fortunately there are other good surgeons in the area. So because of Dr Cottingham’s arrogant nurse practitioner, he has lost my business.
