Disregard for pain and incision not healing
I'm about 4 weeks out from my lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy. At my initial post op I expressed concerns about pain and irritation at the edge of my armpit incision. I was disregarded about my pain and told 'people usually get better after time.' I was also disregarded about my concern that the area in question was worsening. Now a month out, my incision is opening. There's now a hole. I'm not even sure I have confidence for this team to correct this issue for me after so many instances of being told my experience was normal when I knew 4 days in something was wrong.

Not patient focused
To put it bluntly, Kevin Bethke is competent at doing the same thing he’s been doing for many years. However, if you want to be heard or have a novel approach he’s not the right doctor for you.

In one sentence, there is no better surgeon than Dr. Bethke. He was the first doctor I met with after my breast cancer diagnosis and I am forever grateful for him. Not only is he an exceptional surgeon, his bedside manner is unmatched. He genuinely cares for all of his patients and is extremely accessible to answer any question/concern. I've never experienced better care from a doctor, let alone a skilled surgeon, in my life. The world is a better place because of Dr. Bethke.

I did research on NW physicians & found Dr. Bethke's email address online. I sent him an email explaining my case and honestly did not expect a reply. Within 2 hours of sending this email, he replied to me personally, on a Sunday. Next day he had his nurse call me to schedule an appointment. I have never had this type of direct and responsive interaction with a doctor, ever. Dr. Bethke will always be my Oncologist. I've flown to Chicago for several appointments and he is always the greatest.
