Horribly rude.
Dr. Zehr was incredibly cold and rude when he informed my family and I that she my mother had passed. He went so far as to roll his eyes at us when the shock hit and we initially did not want to believe the news. He seemed more annoyed that his time was wasted. I will never forget the way he did not care, his annoyed tone and his aggressive eye roll. He needs to find a better way to inform family members of horrible news or maybe he just shouldn’t say it at all. I would not recommend going to him if you think your loved one is in trouble of surviving. He does not care.

Dr. Zehr performed my heart transplant in less than 4 hours, well under the average time. His work was neat as well as fast - my scars look better than most people's. During surgery, he made sure my spouse got frequent updates, and after surgery he talked to my spouse extensively about what to expect. His bedside manner is great, and he answered all my questions no matter how detailed or hypothetical. Another plus - he's got a great sense of humor.

Dr Zehr performed near-emergency 6-graft coronary bypass surgery on me. After six weeks outcome appears to be excellent. Dr. Zehr''s bedside manor was excellent. All questions answered. Availability of his over-phone nursing staff was indispensable when I had post- op questions. And of course Johns Hopkins facility was excellent too.
