My aunt, age 77, was admitted at FLMC last week after she presented with severe headaches and uncontrolled BP. Apparently her BP was treated and she was sent home on 4 different BP meds. She was told that her primary care doc would prescribe the pain meds, and she eventually got hydrocodone with acetaminophen. She had scans and was diagnosed with dissection of the left vertebral artery. Two days back she had a severe headache and her systolic BP was 184. She was taken to the ER for pain control. She was given morphine in the ER but Dr Shaw refused to give her anything stronger for home. Being a physician myself, I asked to talk to him on the phone. He was not interested in anything I had to say. I asked him to admit my aunt for pain control, which he refused to do. "I am not going to give anything more than hydrocodone; go call your PCP" was his response at 3 am on Saturday morning. Absolutely no compassion.Non-rational thought process. I am ashamed that he is I'm my profession. Avoid

Dr. Kenneth N. Shaw who is affiliated with Fort Loudoun Medical Center Emergency Department, should consider himself extremely lucky that Healthgrades make their submitters at least leave a one star rating. I had hopes that the providers at FTLMS, would be able to help me, as they have in the past. On 9/12, I had secondary hypertension that causes me to have uncontrollable vomiting once my systolic BP number gets over 170. I have had two lengthy stays in the CCU there, this year alone with the same symptoms. Dr. Shaw was condescending, extremely unprofessional, he couldn’t care less. He spent less than 5 minutes with me, did not listen to me, or review my history in their system, and accused me of being a drug addict. He was sarcastic, rude, passive aggressive, and had a superiority complex. He acted bothered to do his job. After that, I never saw him again. There were TWO other patients in the whole ER. I walked out just as I walked in. I went to Parkwest, was there until 9/21.

Heavy on sarcasm, prone to exaggeration, passive aggressive, seemingly egocentric with an apparent enormous "God Complex". I see now why the ER was wide-open when he was the Attending and how easy it was to get an appointment. P.S.-this is not a complement. He would've came across as very condescending but he never actually spoke, NO, he simply observed and had his nurse deliver the message.
