Waited over 90 minutes to be seen
I sat in the waiting room for over 90 minutes with my 83 year old mother who had hip surgery a week prior. She is here for a post-op exam. She sat in a wheelchair in pain the entire time. We watched no less than 10 people get seen before us. Finally we went back to an exam room where we have now been waiting for another 20 minutes. Terrible.

Great surgeon and friendly staff
Dr. Sands is a wonderful surgeon. He was very patient and listened to all my questions before my knee replacement surgery. His staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. He did a fantastic job on my knee. Appointments are not rushed and are timely. I will continue going to him.

Unreliable
Xrays were taken of my injured hip. Dr. Sands explained the severe pain, I was experiencing was from 2 fractured bones in my pelvis, but that nothing could be done. It had to heal on its own. He said he was ordering pain killers. He also saw my L2 was fractured and he was sending a referral to a spine specialist to plasty it. My prescription was not sent to my pharmacy. I called his office the next day and was told he had not signed off on it. It is now 2 days since my visit and Dr. Sands still has not signed off on it, and I am still in pain all day. I have never experienced such negligence. I tried getting into the Steward Medical Group and found no portal. If you suffer pain from an injury, I don't recommend Dr. Kenneth Sands. I moved to Florida in 2017. 2 years after my husband's death. I have never experienced such terrible healthcare as I have here in Florida.

Love Dr. Sands and PA Joe!!!!
Had a great hip scope surgery in 2013. Also had 2 knee scope surgeries. Currently have some hip bursitis in other hip, but improving with the exercises given to me. Love this doc and his PA Joe Canastrari. Steward Medical Group office dynamics and scheduling are crippling this practice though. There can be long waits because doc takes his time with each patient. So bring a book and a good attitude. It isn't like you have to go there that often. Nothing great ever happened quickly. At least he isn't moody or have an ego or attitude like many docs. Best of luck.

Encouraging
After a broken femur in 6/2021, I was starting to experience groin pain from a previous surgery by different Dr. surgeon. That Dr. no longer accepted my insurance, so I needed to find someone in my network who was willing to see me. I was delighted to finally find Dr. Sands, although the wait time for the appointment was about 2 months. In the mean time my pain subsided. Dr. Sands understood my problem, explained clearly, with a model, why it was happening and what he could do for me. I was impressed by his patience and didn't feel like he was rushing. Also I was in the door, had my in office X-ray and was in a room waiting for the Dr., all within 15 minutes! The only downside was I was not given my drivers license back by the receptionist!

Maybe
Had 2nd hip replacement done May 2022. Was very impressed with 1st hip in 2019, but this has been a disaster….more pain now after 8 weeks then before surgery. Have been back to office several times with pain complaints. Had MRI of lower back, 4 days later I Still have not heard from their office. I just want to feel better than before surgery AND I would like some one to call me back after several messages. So sick of pain!! All I want is for a diagnosis to fix whatever is going on after this hip replacement!! Hope his practice is not money driven and truly patient care… Just asking to feel better and get no one to respond…Really?!! Just pump surgeries out and forget patient after care???

Dr. Sands replaced my right hip around Thanksgiving 2019. I was amazed at the results, as were the people around me. I was walking the next day, came home & with physical therapy walked unbelievable distances 1-2 wks later. Dr. Sands, his team & office staff were professional & caring pre- & post-surgery. He didn’t cut muscle which was crucial for my MS, & cut healing time considerably. The pre-surgical instructions & class put me at ease, as did the aftercare. Another benefit, with the hip replacement I got a new ball in my pelvis (not the medical terminology) which was a major area of pain with my MS. I had not been able to sleep on my right side for 15 years. Now I can, with no pain. Thank you Dr. Sands! I am forever in your debt.

After 14 years of knee pain following arthroscopic surgery, and many discouraging visits to other doctors (including Mayo clinic), who offered solutions that satisfied their needs, I saw Dr. Sands and Joe. I was offered the first relief I had in 14 years - a cortisone injection. I cried with joy when I walked without pain, though I knew it was not a permanent fix. Dr. Sands was patient with my fears and indecision about surgery, and many delays I had prior to surgery. The surgery experience was the best I can imagine. His program of patient education, and follow up was excellent. I met people from all over the US who came here for Dr. Sands. His staff is the best, everyone one of them kind and caring. He has replaced both a hip and knee for me. The occasional long wait times for office visits are more than offset knowing I will get all the time I need also. The best recommendation was seeing his patients doing better than others in physical therapy.

I have been impressed with the level of care and attention to detail by Dr Sands and his staff during my preparation for surgery, the surgery itself, and my recovery. I would strongly recommend others seek his help for any knee or hip conditions.

I have had my f right knee replacement x2 by Dr Maes , without success, when I heard of Dr Sands , I decided to give it a try . Dr sands took his tome to do his research, make sure I don’t have any infection in the knee, after two years , he decided it’s time for him to do the knee replacement again. I was so happy that he did the surgery, I came home the next day and have been doing well. I want to thank all the team members in his office, Kim , Joseph k, Angelica PA, April, and all the other staff that deal with me during my office visits.

My spouse had a replacement (revision) surgery and is having an amazing recovery. She has gone from 10 degrees bend to approx. 60degree (so far - goal is 90 degrees). Pain is minimal so far. Surgery (surgeon) so far fantastic.
