Cataract Surgery - Part 1
I had a bad experience with ophthalmologist Dr. Kenneth Karp who performed an eye cataract surgery for my right eye. I had been visiting him once a year for yearly checkups and he seemed like an honest doctor. Last year, 2024, they told me I needed cataract surgery. For the surgery, they offered me to do a lens surgery for far vision or far-near vision and I decided to pick the far-near lens. Prior to the surgery, I had almost perfect vision up close and only needed glasses to see things far away. After the surgery, I noticed that it was harder to see things up close compared to before the surgery and even started to see shadows while reading which was not there before. I waited to see if my vision would improve but it did not. I visited the office 3 times after the surgery because I could not see well for intermediate and near vision. During one of these follow up visits, the doctor inspected my eye and said he noticed I had a stigmatism which they hadn’t noticed before the surgery.

Dr. Karp came highly recommended so I didn't mind driving from Deerfield Beach to see him when my vision was deteriorating. Dr. Karp said I needed cataract surgery and after my surgery I was amazed. I forgot what it was like to have such good vision. His staff is always so friendly and helpful. Couldn't be happier.

I have been going for 10 years with my mom, mother in law, sisters& husband. While I like Dr. Karp, his office staff I am not satisfied with. I was turned away this morning for being a few minutes late as I had a hard time finding parking. I understand schedules, but I have gone there several times and have had to wait 30 mins or more to be seen. I have recommended several patients to Dr. Karp and will no longer. He is a good ophthalmologist but I will not beg any provider to take my money

Do your homework, ask many questions. I am not happy with the results of my procedure. I am miserable and I expressed my discontent to Dr. Karp. I would have not done it if he would have explained that I would have to use readers for everything. What is the point of seeing the road if I can’t read my speedometer while driving? I would have done something else with the money.

I had LASIK less than a week ago and less than 24 hours after, I was seeing 20/20!!! It was a great experience from start to finish. The staff was AMAZINGLY friendly, knowledgeable, and comforting. DR. Karp was very detailed, patient, kind, and professional. I had been contemplating doing this surgery for 14 years ... This is the one of the best desicions I ever made! I have experienced absolutely no pain, discomfort, or any problems whatsoever.
