My 16 yr old daughter and I went to see him about a bump on her wrist which was causing her pain. An x-ray had already been performed before seeing him. Neither the ER doctor, the resident nor he did not find anything on the x-ray. An MRI was the next step in getting a diagnosis; even his resident mentioned an MRI without me saying anything about it. Dr. Carmichael came in, stated he thought it could be one of two things and wanted to take a “conservative approach”, not perform an MRI and just to have her immobilize the wrist and see if it goes away in 6 weeks. He stated he did not see this affecting her quality of life, like she should be stronger and should just be able to deal with the pain, while we wait to see if something that hasn’t been diagnosed just goes away. Why not get a complete diagnosis, give us options, and let us be a part of the treatment decision? She is in pain and cannot work her summer job. Dr. Carmichael lacks empathy and has a poor bedside manner.

WORST Orthopedic doctor ever!! Was referred by the hospital to take my newborn daughter to be seen by this doctor and he never took the time to check on her leg and hip issue, asked me to basically diagnose what she had and never confirmed with an ultrasound if my daughter actually had a problem with her leg and hip, just adjusted the pavlik harness on tighter and told me to go home. Doesn’t listen to the patients concerns nor does he solve the problem. Wish I could give ZERO STARS.

What a huge waste of time. My daughter has a cyst on her foot that is extremely painful. He barely looked at her foot, told her to get some cushions for it and try and lead a normal life. REALLY?? Do you think we haven't already tried that? Told him the cyst has been growing for months, MRI showed it, she has trouble walking on it.....He basically alluded that he thought we were making a big deal out of nothing. He was brusque, uncaring and extremely unprofessional!

He is a doctor that basically says take two tylenol and call me in the morning. Does not listen. Does not care that the pain medicine is not helping. Takes two days to get his nurse to call you back. Tells the patient that knee brace doesn't help anyone with pain or comfort when they are having to walk about a mile during school for classes, after he informs you he doesn't know what is wrong after two visits. Wont prescribe a better painkiller for a kid that needs to go to school for finales.
