Does not care for patients
If you’re looking for appropriate care and at least some resemblance of bedside manner, Dr. Katrina Rolen is not for you. She shouldn’t even have the title “Doctor.” She does not listen to patients or address their concerns. I went with my mother for her follow-up. Rolen verbally berated my mother for getting lab work days too early, yet we followed the orders to a “T,” even scheduling the lab work on dates the orders indicated. She refused to look at my mom’s most current lab work which we had done an hour before the appointment because it was ordered from my mom’s PCP. Both doctors work at the same hospital conglomerate and have access to the same information. Due to cancer and the cancer treatment, my mom’s arms and legs shake uncontrollably and have been doing so for the past 8 months. Today was the first day Rolen noticed it despite us telling her multiple times prior as well as seeing it quite visibly during monthly office visits. Gerald Champion should be ashamed to have Rolen.

Awesome
The staff and Dr Rolen have always been professional and friendly. They get me in and out quick, but I never feel rushed. Dr Rolen tells me what I need to know, explained on a non-technobabble way that's easy to understand. Answers questions. I'm happy with my care.

Rude and short tempered
Left the office shaking because of how upset she made me. Very rude and short. I left when she walked out of the office so I didn’t have to deal with her anymore

Started out great
For the first time in my life, I actually asked a doctor if they were okay. I don't know what was wrong but she was short, did not ask questions about what I was doing, and I ended up not even telling her the full story of what was going on because I was so brushed off that I was afraid to say anything at all and get the continued stony silence. My health is more important than this. Frustrating. :(

Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma: The oncologist in Las Cruces , Memorial Cancer Center said the chemo therapy I received at Gerald Champion Cancer in Alamogordo was not necessary. The Memorial Cancer Center oncologist said chemo therapy was not necessary. There was no cancer in the organs or bone marrow. Yes, the cancer is appearing as a skin rash. I will have this life long. I will monitor for any future outbreak other than the skin. Occasionally I will have bloodwork to check for cancer cell activity. The rash is controlled with medicated skin cream. End Item

My visit Thursday, August 12, 2021 went well, Albert, Dode, were so helpful with my appointment and insurance. Heather went over my recent blood test with me, she was please to see my blood platelets increased. Everyone there were so pleasant, professional and caring. I didn't see Dr. Rolen this visit but I did meet with her on May 6, 2021 for my new patient appointment. Dr. Rolen was very caring and professional. Thank you, Caroline J. Trenary

All staff and doctor were friendly, and for me went beyond what would normally be done.As I am severely hearing impaired and read lips, using regular masks make it impossible for me to understand. Both doctor and nurses made sure I understood all that would go on, and covered everything i needed to know. I was even asked if I needed an interpreter(which was lovely, but not needed), which is something no other doctor has ever asked me. Doctor was very reassuring, and I left feeling calm and confident. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needed a hemotologist.

I felt very rushed (I was told I was 10 minutes late -but my clock in the car showed I arrived on time). Nothing was explained and there has never been an examination of my entire body (I have malignant melanoma and the booklets sent with the meds and they say that it will be done). I get the feeling that I have made her angry and she doesn't care. The office staff is exceptionally nice and so is Heather.

Ongoing CLL problem, Dr Rolen replaced a fine gentleman that DID have empathy and compassion and WAS willing to hear our concerns, I resent being treated like a number by someone who radiates indifference to her patients. A small amount of humanity shown to people at a very difficult time in their life would make this practice a positive experience. As it stands now, not a referable physician.
