Dr. Kathleen Hanover, MD

I was terrified that I had a basal on the tip of my nose as I had seen another derm yesterday. Dr. Hanover's staff got me in quickly so she could access and look under her dermascope. I w as terrified as i worked in Plastics for 14 yrs. I Have have seen so many facial disfigurments from basal cell carcinomas. She diagnosed me with Rosacea. She totally put my mind as ease with such confidence. She described and explained exactly why she made the diagnosis. You can tell She has had excellent training with top notch mentorship. Dr. Hanover was pleasant all four times I had seen her in her Carmel office. Although, I ended up having to be referred to an orthopedic specializing in elbows to have the issue she created evaluated and treated. I had seen Dr. Hanover for a 'crusty' spot on my elbow which eventually led to a punch biopsy. The open area from the biopsy did not heal and was referred to an ortho specialist. Upon looking at the area, it was determined that in the course of doing the biopsy the bursa sac in my elbow was nicked. No cyst was revealed upon xray and my elbow otherwise was in good shape. After 2 1/2 weeks in a full arm cast and 3 weeks in a brace and elbow pad, my elbow has healed but I am not sure if I will have any further issues with my bursa sac down the road. I doubt I will ever be returning to see Dr. Hanover or anyone else in their office after my ordeal with my elbow.

I am 63 and living in Florida now several months each year. I had not visited with a dermatologist for decades. I know skin cancer will be a risk for me as I get older. Dr. Hanover and her assistant are both excellent listeners and did an excellent job considering my various skin issues, discussing them with me, completing tests, and reporting quickly back to me. I hope to return to Dr. Hanover over the next few decades as she gains more and more experience in her field.
