Inattentive to patient and missed Dx on admission!
I was admitted under her care from the ER St Agnes Hospital on March 14,2024 due to fever of unknown origin and cardiopulmonary symptoms. She discovered my first episode of A.fib and sepsis but failed to diagnose endocarditis. Despite persistent fever and symptoms, she discharged me after 6 days of IV antibiotics to continue oral medication for 4 more days and advised to see my primary care physician. The day after discharge, I experienced severe shortness of breath and congestive heart failure. Opting for another hospital, I was immediately diagnosed with severe endocarditis affecting aortic and tricuspid valves, with an aortic root abscess, pleural effusions and others. Within 3 days of CCU admission at another hospital, I underwent emergency open-heart surgery for aortic valve replacement and tricuspid valve repair, which had saved my lifeInitial correct diagnosis from Dr Addai could have spared me from such a risky procedure, associated with high morbidity and mortality.
