Dr. Roberts is an excellent surgeon. He is kind and thoughtful. I had a double hip replacement with no issues. I have now completed over 2200 Pure Barre classes with my new hips!

Surgical Complications
Dr. Roberts performed a hip replacement on my mother and there was a poor outcome that resulted in additional surgeries and complications. She did not receive any support from the physician or office after the event. It was disappointing and sad.

?? Recommend Dr. Robert’s and staff
Dr. Roberts replaced my father’s hip. There was supreme attention to detail that my dad received starting with Dr. Roberts’ office and continued through post-op. He and/or his resident met with my parents multiple times during his procedure and went out of their way to assure the hospital staff was following through. They answered all questions with a bedside manner that is kind and caring and was answered in a way that was understandable by everyone. I recommend Dr. Roberts without hesitation.

Maybe okay for short term but not long term care!!
When surgery doesn’t go as planned and you’re left with a long road to recovery they don’t seem to have much guidance or compassion. Called for extension of my handicap parking pass. I’m just not coming along as great as I should and not always comfortable with lack of strength in my leg. I was told to call my primary as they only extend once and if I was looking for something more permanent, I needed to call primary. Nurse made me feel as though I was tying to milk it so I could keep using handicap pass! Her response should have been, maybe you should see the doctor or talk to him if you still feel you’re not progressing well. Anything to show there was concern for me. Sounds trite, but I felt so sad. She made me feel like I was abusing or faking! Had my femur not been cracked during hip replacement I’m sure I would be much further along. I’m guessing the practice is okay if you don’t need good explanation or compassion for anything that is not routine outcome.

Dr. Roberts provided excellent care for my mother in law. From her preop visits to her care at home, he called to check on her progress and was open to questions. We could not have asked for a kinder, skilled surgeon. Thank you for all you do!

He saw on referral from East Paris Internal Medicine the same day. I was very grateful for the pain relief he provided for a severe knee effusion and the assessment of my underlying condition.

After several x-rays dr. Roberts misread the angle of my femur. I have a reduced angle bone configuration which is connected to 1% of the population. That would suggest three or four of his patients a year have the same condition. He did not diagnose that and missed it. In surgery he fractured my femur and supported it with a cable. The cable interfere with my lymphatic system and caused lymphedema which was extremely painful for almost a year. Truly very incompetent.

I would not recommend Dr. Karl Roberts to anyone. He broke my femur during my hip replacement and put in a cable to secure it. This disrupted my lymphatic system causing Lymphedema. I was using a cane at 6 weeks and Dr.Roberts told me to "retire my cane". I did. The next day and I felt something move. After that I was no longer able to walk without assistance or extreme pain. I could feel my implant moving. He refused to treat me after 3 months. I got a second opinion and had a re-do 8 mo. later

There were two reasons that I wanted to have my knee replacement surgery. One reason was I wanted to be able to enjoy my sixties and not sit back an watch others enjoy my sixties. The second reason was to be able to dance at my daughters wedding without having aching knees all night long. Well, my daughter was married on October 21, 2017 and I was able to dance the night away. No aching knees! Each day my knees feel better and better.

Dr. Roberts has performed total knee replacements in both of my knees. He is awesome. I would definately recommend him. Prior to my last surgery he answered questions that my daughter asked and also drew a picture to show her the process. His staff is also very professional and customer oriented. Some of them have been with West Michigan Orthopaedics over 20 years.

I most definitely would NOT recommend this doctor. This was my 1st visit & he definitely did not make a good first impression. First off I came to my appointment fifteen minutes early & literally waited for over an hour! Then he seemed very rushed & eager to get out of there. He spewed off his opinion & I couldn’t a word in edge wise. He stated that even though I have been in agonizing pain since 2012, I was too young for knee replacement & to pretty much suck it up. Don’t waste your time.

I would definitely recommend Dr Roberts. This was my initial visit and both my husband and I were very satisfied with the information given to us regarding having knee replacement surgery, as well as the time spent. Looking forward to having him do my knee replacement(s) in the near future. Thank you.

Dr. Roberts' results concerning my hip replacement were outstanding. He explained things very well, answered all my questions, and provided excellent advice at our appointments. His office staff were very helpful. The therapists and nurses that provided home care and advice also did and excellent job. I am very pleased with the results.

From the time I walked in, I received the best of care. The x-ray technician was very competent and through, the intern was very knowledgeable and took her time to make sure she had all the information and answered all my questions. Great Dr. in the making. And as always, Dr. Roberts was very kind and explained everything. I highly recommend anyone looking for an Orthopedic Physician go to West Michigan Orthopaedics.

Dr. Roberts was very professional and timely. I was able to get an appointment within a couple of weeks of my initial call. My surgery (torn meniscus) was 2 months later. He did a great job of explaining the surgery , pre and post-op. I hope I never have to go back again but, if I do, I wouldn't hesitate to have Dr. Roberts and his team @ Spectrum East do the surgery.
