Before I was to have my knee replacement surgery done I had been seeing another orthopedic surgeon. I was working in the hospital at the time and I went to the surgery department to the nurses station where there were four nurses busy at work and I asked them “who would you want to do your knee replacement?”. They paused,….thought and each one turned to me and quietly said “Beer”. I left my ortho surgeon and went to Dr. Carl Beer. He did my right knee replacement also on my left knee replacement later in life my right hip and then my left hip. All this work done with a minimal amount of pain medication needed and truly a gifted and talented man. Dr. Beer is not a bleeding heart doctor who’s going to coddle you he’s going to tell you to get off your rear end, work through your pain and recover and I did four times…I am on my 20th year anniversary with my knees. Who is the best surgeon? You do the math.

Dr. Beer literally told my mother that she was not a candidate for hip replacement because there was plenty of cushion left in her hip. He tended not to address her directly as if her age indicated that she would have no knowledge of what he was talking about. A second opinion showed great deterioration in the ball going into her socket. Now, less than four months after her appointment with Dr. Beer, she has had a successful hip replacement surgery. Shame on him.

If you don't mind waiting around for you appointment, for which you were told to be 15 minutes early, only to be treated by the doctor like something he scraped off his shoe, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU.

My hip surgery in January 2018 was most successful. I had reservations of course since it was my first surgery in 75 years, but the care of the nurses, and the professionalism of Dr. Beer and his staff just made me feel comfortable. Post surgery instructions allowed me to heal completely, and golf was back on the agenda in April without any discomfort, and has continued through October. I cannot thank this man enough for what he did for me. Tim Paluszak

Anterior hip replacement June 20. Walked without a crutch, cane or walker the next day and never required any after. Walking 3 to 4 miles straight in addition to walking for chores etc 4 weeks after surgery. Ballroom dancing 4 weeks after surgery. Pickleball 6 weeks after surgery. Stopped pain meds 5th day after surgery (using 1 at night first 5 days). Dr. Beer exceeded my expectations. Gary B

Dr. Beer told me that I would take longer to heal (hip replacement) if I tried to do too much too soon. He was right. However, all of the pain and discomfort subsided about nine months after surgery and I now feel better than I had in several years. Even my lower back pain is gone, not sure why. The only problem with the anterior approach to surgery is that you feel that you have completely healed long before you actually have. Thank you Dr. Beer and Simone.

A better dr. For hip replacements is hard to find. His anterior approach affords a quick and easy recovery. I began using a cane on day 11 and was walking without aid st 13 days. Additionally, there was virtually no pain with this approach.

Every aspect of our care was excellent! We attended Surgery University and were well prepared by the nurse. Dr Beer is a superior surgeon. He is an expert in anterior approach hip replacements. My advice--do not have hip replacement with any other approach. No pain!
