Condescending, awful experience
I recently moved from Illinois and found Luminary Dermatology in North Port, Fl. I wanted to refill a topical prescription for acne. The SECOND Karen comes into my room she went on a tangent to me about not being on birth control. She tells me I need to find someone here in Florida to help me find birth control and then proceeds to list out all forms of birth control even though I’m 25 years old and am WELL AWARE. She tells me I need to take a look at my life and think “am I ready for kids?” She even tells me one her patients got pregnant with underwear on? I have been on hormonal birth control for 8 YEARS and recently stopped due to health reasons that are none of her business. She is invasive, rude, condescending and nasty. I paid $100 to get shamed. If I wanted advice on contraceptive I would go to my OBGYN not my DERMATOLOGIST. Not to mention she glanced at my spots of concern for half a second and said “they’re fine”. She pushes her own agenda onto young girls. DO NOT SEE HER.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! THEY TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU! UNPROFESSIONAL, UNETHICAL, DISCRIMINATIVE, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had the worst experience with this dermatology office. I went for a skin concern and also wanted to get checked for my moles. They mentioned that two of my moles look different. They suggested going back to check on my skin condition and talk about my moles, which I accepted. When I arrived, the nurse didn't even ask about my skin condition and told me that they will remove my moles for a biopsy. I told them that it was not mentioned to me, and they blamed it on me for not understanding them!! The exact sentence of that discriminative nurse was: "Maybe you didn't get it." WTH?? How can someone not understand getting a biopsy? When I asked why I need it, the response was that they may be cancerous. I've been through a biopsy before, and this is not how you learn about getting a biopsy. They are supposed to sit you down and explain to you very well that w

She was very knowledgeable. Made me feel at ease with the exam. Staff was friendly. I wish I could have gotten a print out of the visit. It would have made it easier to follow the directions she gave me.

I went to this Dr. on a recommendation and in my opinion stay clear away! First she told me I had two precancerous moles. They were VERY tiny but I had them removed anyway. I was left with two substantial scars. Next she told me I may have a tumor on my scalp and needed a CT scan immediately. I really didn't want to subject myself to that amount of radiation and decided to get a second opinion. Another Dr. told me it was just a lipoma and in no way did I need a CT scan!
