Dr. Karen Fortune, MD

My husband had recently got out of the military and we moved back to MA from Arizona. We obviously lost his insurance and had to wait for insurance on my new job to kick in before I could get seen for my prenatal appointments again. Dr Fortune was very cruel to me and said that my lack of insurance and prenatal care was a sign of substance use and that they already had my urine and would test it for drugs. If it came back positive, then she would get DCF involved. She never asked questions about why I did not have insurance or any sort of change in circumstance. Just immediately accused and threatened me despite my OBGYN for the same pregnancy was in Arizona. Every other provider in the office had the compassion to ask questions about the massive move and change in circumstance. I refused to see her after that.

Dr. Fortune is the 2nd OBGYN I have gone to to treat my excessive bleeding with my menstrual cycle in the past 4 years. She did not dismiss my concerns, took me very seriously and took my request for a hysterectomy very seriously. She understood how I felt, didn’t tell me no that I was too young for one, I’m currently 26, and did a very good job explaining the procedure and what to expect afterwards to me. She preformed the procedure, I had no complications, and she was very happy for me when I went back 6 weeks later and told her that I was feeling like a new woman and felt much better. I will highly recommend her to anyone who asks because she takes you seriously.

Cast away and worries I had and downsized any anxieties I had about my issues and problems. She was so loud I could hear her talking to the patient before me in the next room clear as day. After giving me a pap smear it came back abnormal and didn't tell me about it for 4 MONTHS!

Dr. Fortune is an amazing OBGYN. She is always so friendly, follows up with me about things that I mentioned at previous appointments, and makes me feel so welcomed. I have never had a bad experience with her in my past 10+ years being her patient.

Dr Fortune broke my water without my consent even though I was not in active labor. It started the clock for me to deliver in 24 hours or I would have a c section. I ended up with a c section. With my second pregnancy I started to bleed at 12 weeks. I switched practices because of my awful experience with her. I went to LGH ER and she was the attending Doctor that day. She told me that I would most likely miscarriage and if this was an unplanned pregnancy I still had options. My daughter is 5 now. I didn’t abort her like this evil women suggested. The doctors told me that my bleeding was most likely due to my csection caused by her.

Customer service it’s nonexistent in this clinic after waiting three months for an appointment I could not be seen because I was seven minutes late for a early morning appointment, Being my first appointment there no one even asked me what was the reason for the appointment?? I am in awful pain and was refused to be seen!!! I left the clinic in tears! But after reading all this other reviews I’m glad this didn’t work out !

Seemed like she was on autopilot, just spewing general information at me but didn't seem very aware of anything that was in my chart. Gave advice that really didn't make any sense for how things have been going with my particular case. Also didn't really listen or take my concerns seriously at all, openly scoffed at me when I brought up something she didn't have any experience with. Has made me seriously consider finding a new office, would not recommend.

Extremely Skilled, always listening and caring, down to earth doctor. Blessed to have found her and been her patient for more than a decade.

Dr Fortune is the only doctor at the WomenHealth practice that I would not go to. She selectively listens to patients, lacks sensitivity and empathy. She is rude to patients, abrupt and doesn't address questions. She lacks interest in care and treats patients as though they are inconveniencing her by attending their appointment.

The doctor told me my contraction are ten minutes apart. If they don't induce me they have to send me home. I told her I wanted naturally and she told me then I had to leave. Basically it's her way or the highway. Two hours later we had to go back as my contractions got stronger.As my baby was coming out,the umbilical cord was wrap around my baby neck, my husband ask her to cut the cord, instead she flung the baby around. Very dangerous. A beautiful experience turned into a nightmare. Never agai
