Dr. Kumar was my anesthesiologist for two surgeries at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). For the first one, HSS assigned Dr. Kumar to my surgery; for the second, I asked for Dr. Kumar to be my anesthesiologist again and HSS granted my request. After discussing my preferences, Dr. Kumar was able to grant my request to remain ‘wide awake’ – absolutely no sedation – for both surgeries. For each surgery, Dr. Kumar determined and administered the appropriate nerve blocks, which enabled me to not receive any level of sedation. As such, I can highly recommend Dr. Kumar’s skill as a anesthesiologist including HER ability to work with me [the patient] to create an anesthesia plan that provides a safe surgery while accommodating my preferences as best as possible. In my case, Dr. Kumar was able to provide me with exactly what I wanted – just nerve blocks. Aside from being a highly skilled anesthesiologist, Dr. Kumar has a calming, friendly, and reassuring manner. Thank you so much
