I totally qnd 100% agree with the Dr that left a review regarding the care of his elderly mother. I too had an extremely bad experience with Dr. Patel. In 2015 I fell and had a badly fractured left wrist. La Palma hospital recommended Dr. Patel as an orthopedic surgeon therefore I trusted him. I had surgery a closed reduction with two pins. I was in a cast with sausage fingers and in extreme pain 3 mos. He told me I would have a slight deformity, so he removed my cast and my wrist was bowed out. I asked is that the deformity you were referring too? He acted surprised and said I don't know what that is. He ordered x-rays and claimed he didn't see anything. Then I had a CT saw nothing. I finally got a second opinion and the xray tech saw the problem. 4 surgeries later and still need a new joint.

I am writting this review as a physician ( Professor Medicine,UCSF) regarding the poor care for my elderly mother by Dr Patel. Dr Patel did total hip replacement for my mom on February 4,2021 at La Palma hospital after her Left hip fracture. His care post surgery has been very sloppy and careless and he discharged her despite her inability to stand and at high risk for falling . Additionally, he provided no follow up and despite my rptd calls & pages never bothered to return my calls or check on her condition.I called his office multiple times & left messages but he never had the courtesy to return calls or check back to see how she is doing. She had X-rays of hip joint 10 days back ordered by Dr Patel but we had not received any feed back from his him.As she had developed extreme pain in her left foot & her PT had to be stopped. Called him & instead of any help he said go ahead & sue me. It is outrageous and worst care by any surgeon I know . Most unprofessional & uncaring.
