Excellent Bedside Manner & Peer Respect
My mom has been seeing Dr. Shemisa for the past 6 years of so. He has always been kind and respectful. I attend most appointments with her. He takes the time to explain her condition without dummying down and at the same time pausing to make sure that sure there is full understanding. He not only uses the best science, the best medication and explains why it's the best. If something isn't working as expected, he shares his hypothesis, makes a change and explains why he thinks the new option will be a better choice. My mom was recently inpatient and I was speaking with the attending cardiologist that evening. Once I mentioned Dr. Shemisa, his face lit up and he stated, “Oh, she is in very good hands. I will consult with him right away!” I've never felt better for my mom.

Outstanding Physician
I dont understand the comments about Dr Shemisa. I have always found him to be very personable, warm and a complete gentleman. He listens to my concerns, answers all my questions in details and takes time to explain treatment recommendations etc. I find him to be very thorough, cautious but conservative in his approach to treatment. He is a very very good physician. I would recommend him to friends and family.

Does not communicate well: Little to no patience
My mom was being treated by Dr Kamal Shemisa. Mom has dementia and her speech is difficult to understand. Dr Kamal Shemisa was rude at times, condescending, and had little patience. He may know medicine but needs a lot of work on his patient communication skills. We have since changed doctors and we will not return to this physician's care.

Excellent Doctor
Dr. Shemisa listens to patients, researches about their care and new treatments/protocols. When I see Dr. Shemisa I feel respected, heard, and cared for in ways that another physcian in the same practice did not make me feel.

Dr Shemis is amazing. I can see how some may think he talks down to them. He is very smart. So sometimes people who are really intelligent are like that. But with that said, I've been through 3 other cardiologists. This guy is really sharp! He'll keep you alive. no, he won't be the most warm and friendly. He's business like. But I'd rather have that and not have another heart attack! He utilizes all the latest science!

I have visited Dr. Shemisa's office twice. The office staff is efficient, helpful, and friendly. There has never been a wait time, and the physician is quite professional. He takes his time in explaining any testing, reasons the medications and testing, and makes sure that patient understands information and changes made. No one really likes going to the doctor, but this experience has been a breath of fresh air! No sign on the wall saying "Limit your questions to one or two issues"!!!!

Dr. Shemis was obviously well-educated and understood the patient's heart issues. What he had no grasp of was how to deal with a 92 year old person who is a sound mind, but like many of his age mates takes longer to process. At one point the patient was studying some written information he was just given and the doctor literally got in his face and said, "Are you still there? Are you with me?" Then obviously tired of trying to communicate the doctor left the room abruptly.
