Waiting to see a doctor for almost 2 hours
My visit started off with a 1 and a half hour wait majority of the times. The doctor(Kalava) spends not very much talking to you to figure out your problem and basically tries to rush seeing you. I SERIOUSLY do not suggest choosing this doctor and if you can find ANYONE else, do it. I went for back pain because I am in serious pain but visit after vist of trying this medication and that medication gets honestly tiring. I am tired of not being able to even stand for less than 20 minutes but I am sorry am not going to sit in a waiting room for 45 mins then get shipped to the next room and have to wait another 45 minutes to an hour ,sorry you got the wrong person. But if you don't mind having to wait 2 hours to be seen finally and going threw the list of medications that don't even touch the pain and go do this every 2 weeks or month to get nothing to help with pain than don't bother going here. Placed a complaint against this pain clinic also to heywood hospital

Never!! Very unfriendly! Absolutely ignored everything I said to him. He did not take my concerns seriously or try in any way to ease how difficult it is for me to physically, mentally and emotionally deal with a recent and rapid decline in my health as well as my independence. I was a new patient, seeing him for the first time too!!! It was so upsetting for me that when I finally got to the car I instantly burst out in tears. I thought being sent to a Pain specialist meant, FINALLY getting the help I need, plus deserve. What I had hoped for and expected from him was to simply work together as a team in order to better manage my chronic pain as natural as possible, but also getting closer to finding a true diagnosis.

He completely wasted my time. I feel like a criminal for having to go to a pain specialist, when I'm not a criminal, I have a crippling disease. I've never taken an opiod. I feel like I was never listened to and I KNOW for a fact I wasn't ever properly cared for. A doctor should genuinely listen to a patient, not intentionally look away at a computer and pretend to listen. On average I was made to wait 70inutes in the waiting room for him to arrive. Never again.

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Kalava. My sister also sees him as well and loves him. I have had degenerative disc disease since i was a teen and Boston children's scarred me for life after having a cortisone injection in my spine there. Dr. Kalava was so different. I didn't even know he had done the procedure I was so out of it. Put my faith back into a doctor to be able to trust. I understand the comments about his demeanor and being sort of awkward. But doesn't change his care quality.

MRI clearly shows my spine issue yet From start to finish I have been treated like a drug seeker even though lab results confirmed no drug or alcohol use as I stated. The doctor is very quiet and does not make eye contact. He does not explain treatment. The staff does not return calls in a timely manner or at all. Sometimes it takes days for a response for even a minor question - not even a refill. I would never recommend this office to anyone and am seeing a new specialist next week.

The dr was not very patient friendly , had no interest in my actual pain issue, treated me like I was drug seeking when I was clearly open to any alternatives. He abruptly left the discussion, I did a urine test and based on a very very low level of legal marijuana, less than the lab detection limits are supposed to be. The dr decided to deny me any kind of care based on something I was very up front about. According to the new law it is illegal for professional to deny needed medical care.
