Dr. Nudell lacks the basic understanding of medical emergencies to be practicing in his field. He perforated the esophagus of a family member and did not round on them the next day in the hospital or consult a surgeon. A week later, with an infection near the heart, my family member was rushed to the hospital for an open chest surgery. This is not someone who I would let perform a procedure on me, but I am confident there are many other higher quality GI doctors in the area.

He performed an unnecessary, invasive procedure on a family member of mine that caused a life-threatening complication -- esophageal perforation. He never apologized, nor checked on her in the hospital, nor managed her recovery, which took three years and required a thoracotomy (open chest surgery) and a laparoscopy (open abdomen surgery). She came to him for constipation and his plan to address it was an upper endoscopy with dilation, which makes no medical sense but pays well. He has betrayed his oath in pursuit of a payday. Stay far away! For context, I am a doctor, but not a GI doctor.

He perforated the esophagus of a friend of mine. Dr. Nudell cut my friend’s throat and then left her to die in the terrible hospital in Largo.

Don't go here
Could not have been worse. The office personnel were rude and incompetent. Dr Nudell was completely out of line to defend the rudeness of his office staff. If you are looking for a quality gastroenterologist then you would do well to look elsewhere.

Dr. Nudell is an extraordinary professional. His knowledge and his empathy made us feel safe and respected. I have never had such caring specialist that would take the time to listen and consider his patient’s opinion. We have been blessed to have him as my husband’s doctor.

After two ER visits and a hospitalization, my daughter needed to follow-up with a GI doctor. Dr. Nudell had mostly good reviews, was part of Baycare and close by so she made an appointment as a new patient. The appointment was a month and a half out. When she arrived a half-hour early for a 3:30 appointment, she was told she was a "no show", that her appt was at 1:00. The receptionist told her they left a message on Thursday changing the time (appt was Monday). No one spoke with her to confirm. She had received an auto message reminding her of the original date and time, but due to work, she would not have agreed to a 1:00 appt. The woman just kept saying she was a "no show", and did not even try to say she was sorry for the mix-up, or to see if there was another appt date for her to come in. My daughter just walked out of the office. Your front office staff can make or break a practice. You should think about that as most of your low ratings are due to them. Time for some changes?

Dr. Nudell performed my colonoscopy & endoscopy. He was excellent. His front office is the reason for the generous 1 star review. I have had problems with scheduling appointments with them in the past. But the most recent one was the worst. I was scheduled for another procedure on December 18 at 11.I was mailed a flyer (that I still have) with the date & time listed & including a card from the scheduler, Kellie Beagle, (who I know now is no longer there) reminding me not to forget to do the prep.I arrived at the office on Dec. 18 at 11 and was told that my appt was not showing. They asked me if I was sure I had one. First mistake. They told me the person who was supposed to perform the procedure could not be in the office until 12:30 and I could be seen then. I couldn't I live in Gulfport& drove to Largo for this appt (not to mention doing the procedure) & I had another appt I had to keep. FU - Dec 23 - more appt woes. Bad info given to me. Lots of excuses. I'm done with them.

Very happy/satisfied with DR. Nudel, however, if you can get through to make an appointment-lucky you-it is nearly impossible. Although I understand how busy the office staff must be, there is room for improvement. On my first try to make an appointment, it took one week just to get a callback. To book the second/third appointment-again, put on hold for 1/2 hr, finally was asked to leave a message - don't know how long it will be before we get a callback. It would be helpful to include phone exts. so the patient can dial the ext. # to speak with/leave a message for THAT person. Patients also are busy- working from home or in an outside facility. PLEASE, fix this situation-it's bad enough to say "to heck with it, I'll go somewhere else." Patients pay for salaries, facilities, etc. Starting with step one, i,e., good office communication is extremely important as you represent the doctor(s) who employ you. The office staff is generally very helpful, knowledgeable, and likable-but...

In my 70+ years I can say, this is a very personable exceptional doctor that I highly recommend. Dr. Nudell, took his time to research a new medication for me and acquire samples for me to try to see if it would help my situation . Dr. Nudell, himself, contacted me in the evening and even as late as 10:30 at night. He goes beyond what is expected of a doctor today. ***** FIVE STARS The staff is very pleasant and helpful. It's a pleasure to go to this doctor's office. Thank you Dr. Nudell and staff.

What a relief to find Dr. Nudell...Very attentive to my condition. He made time from his busy schedule to fit me in to conduct a colonoscopy/endoscopy within 2 weeks of my initial visit. It's great that he will also be performing the procedure. I hope he helps me get some relief from my intestinal issues.

I have a complicated disease and am beyond grateful for the care I receive from Dr Nudell. He saved my life. He’s available, no matter how busy. He calls after hours to give me the results of tests. I’ve never had a physician treat me with such care and kindness before. He consults with other specialists to determine the best treatment plan for me. He cares about his patients more than anyone else I’ve met and I’ve spent a lot of time with doctors. I cannot say enough good about Dr Nudell.
