He gets the good drugs. Very difficulty to reach without an appointment. Has not been able to get me feeling as good as I expect. Quality of life is secondary to inflammation markers, if even considered at all. Depression from left over symptoms is treated as normal depression, which I don't believe it is. The cc website even mentions the distress signals sent from the bowels to the brain with ibd, not the same as normal depression. He doesn't trust me. He gets the good drugs and is stingy with them to me. I smoke pot so I am a drug addict. He is still the best I have encountered in this very unknowledgeable and unaccessable profession. Publicly caused disease should be publicly funded, the doctors should not be concerned with the cost of treatment, only suggest the best treatment option. I guess this guy never goes off lablel on prescribing methods, at least not for me. How much preventable bowel rot is an acceptable amount? If you have an 'important' father this is a great doctor.

I have had two procedures under Dr Achkar, and both have given me excellent direction in caring for my UC. He accommodated my request for no sedation, and spoke directly and respectfully to me during each procedure. He once tied my shoe post- procedure while I held my baby. Genuine.

This doctor is amazing! He is so compassionate and sincere in his desire to help his patients. He told my niece he would take care of her and he followed through with everything he said he would do. A nurse who specializes in wound care and colostomies told us that her ostomy is picture perfect.
