Wrong diagnosis
What seemed to start off OK during the ER visit on March 25, 2024, quickly turned into a dismissive attitude from this doctor as soon as I asked him to give my wife (of 40 years) something for her pain. Fast forwarding 2 months, she's passed away due to metastatic cancer. He should have admitted her rather than rush to send her home. She was in such pain due to the cancer wrapping around her spine & he told all of us 'she probably has pneumonia or an infection'. Within 2 hours, he sent her home with antibiotics when he should have done more testing. My opinion, which I shared with him, was that something was seriously wrong; she has never complained about pain... ever, and she's keeled over in pain. I asked him to please do more tests & with that, he had an attitude, acting as if I thought I knew more than he, when all I was doing was advocating for my wife.

He was extremely dismissive and invalidating and called me a hypochondriac to my face.

Went to Milford emergency room with severe back pain and abdominal pain. Dr. Jarbeau immediately diagnosed the problem, ran the confirming tests, and had me admitted to the hospital. He was professional and very nice. So happy I went to Milford Regional. Have been trying to get this diagnosed for almost a year. He did it in minutes!

We had a great experience with Dr. Jarbeau on a late night E.R. visit. My two year old son needed stitches in his forehead. Dr. Jarbeau was very friendly and helped my son feel at ease. He was very careful and did a nice neat job on the stitches. He was also very knowledgeable and shared lots of information about suture and wound care to reduce scarring. Though it was a busy night in the E.R., I felt he gave us an appropriate amount of time and attention.

Ok, ED doc, generally. Somewhat dismissive of a patient with psychiatric DX and chronic pain. Doesn’t “believe in fibromyalgia”, although did agree to read up further when taken to task.
