3 hour wait times and dismissive
His office wait time is 3 hours each time we go. Unless your child is blind or has a serious disorder like an optic nerve pressing on the eye and is going blind, he doesn't really care and will walk away towards the door while you're asking him a question. But, I think if your child has a serious eye condition, he is the person to go and see. He seems to have trained many of the pediatric ophthalmologist in LA. He has pretty bad bed side manners and is dismissive of your concerns unless he deems it important. I think he is overbooked and burnt out. I'm not sure if there's an option for him to see less patients and provide quality care. Or, if he HAS to pack his schedule because so many dire cases need to be seen by him since he's the expert? Also one time his office forgot to get an approval for our insurance so we got to the appt and couldn't be seen and nobody apologized and we had to be rescheduled. Seeing him takes several hours just to wait around to see him for 4 minutes.

Atrocious Wait Times
This is a truly awful experience, find a private practice where they value patients and their time. Dr Demer runs a pediatric office and yet the average wait time for child appointments is THREE hours. We have been to four visits across two years and it is the same experience each and every time. The waiting room is jammed with crying children whose eyes are dilated and vision blurry while their parents try to entertain them for hours on end, waiting for an exam room and the one doctor available. Dilation takes 20 mins and is no excuse for the horrid wait times at this office.

One of the best eye doctors
I had a strabismus surgery with Dr. Demer. I had two previous strabismus surgeries with other doctors. So, I can say that Dr. Demer knows his job very well.

I’m sure he’s a great doctor once he gets into the operating room, but his bedside manner and person skills leave something to be desired. My original Strabismus surgeon (who had done 6 other prior surgeries) recently moved out of town. But before he moved, he had already cleared me for surgery and we did the necessary pre-op labs eariler this month in preparation for it). But after his move, he referred me back up here to Dr Demer. I am still seeing double. But Dr Demer discounted my reported

I am not exaggerating when I say Dr Demer gave me my life back. Earlier this year I underwent strabismus surgery performed by a surgeon from the Seattle area where I live. I was left with severe double vision MUCH worse than prior to surgery. After a lot of research and speaking with other strabismus specialists, I was referred to Dr Demer. I was told he is the best, and from my experience he truly is. My double vision has been completely corrected. I am so grateful I found Dr Demer!
