I was instructed by my internist to go to the ER after 5+ days with a migraine to have an injection to stop the pain. I have suffered from migraine since the age of 10 and am now 64, not an uncommon request but not often, less than 4-5 times per year. Dr. Carmack quickly informed me that she was treating me not my internist and it is no longer practiced to give injections like that anymore, that neurologists no longer advise it and hospital emergency rooms don't carry such medications. Mind you this was after she looked at my medication list not knowing I suffer from Lupus, Fibromyalgia, 6 bulging discs, and several other overlapping autoimmune diseases. Not once did she review my medication list as to why they were prescribed to me. She then proceeded to tell me I was dehydrated from all of the vomiting and she would start an iv for fluids along with something for the nausea but she was not there to eradicate my headache or overdose me from what she saw on my list of medications.
