Dr. Jonben Svoboda, MD

My last two appts. with him have been rushed. He doesn't give me a chance to say or ask questions. He is concerned about another patient he has to get back to acting like I am bothering him and taking too much of his time. He was very rude and had no compassion to my needs. I could care less if I never have to see him again and I will not recommend him to anyone else.

I was very pleased with his manner of talking to me. Everyone of my questions were answered in a language I could understand. Dr. Savoboda allowed me to watch the screen during my ultra sound and carefully explained everything.

Do not recommend this doctor. You cannot get a word in edge-wise. When I tried to explain the problems I had experienced in the past with my thyroid issues, he wouldn't even listen. He only gave me a long lecture about TSH, which I was already well informed about. Instead of getting a second opinion, I was told to return to my original treating endocrinologist. In addition, after looking at a few of my previous blood tests, when I saw that my blood test of free T3 was well below normal range (when not on medication), he stated that was 'good'.

I have dealt with many doctors during the time of being a caregiver for my son, my mother and also for myself.Doctor Svoda is one of the most egotistical doctors I have come across and I have come across many doctors.He refuses to listen to what you have to say and already has his plan for what is to be done. The doctor is part of a Care Team not the whole Care Team.I plan to switch my mother from his care to an endocrinologist who listens and helps you make the plan for your health.Perhaps Dr Svoda could be given some instruction on bedside manner and sympathy and empathy for people who see him.

Do not recommend this doctor. You cannot get a word in edge-wise. He has his own opinion as to what your course of action should be. When I tried to explain the problems I had experienced in the past with my thyroid issues, he wouldn't even listen. My issues have to do with antipsychotic medication lowering my TSH, and some doctors cannot think outside the box. I have done enough research to do just that. I will have to treat myself and do my own labs in order to keep my thyroid hormones at optimal levels. This doc thinks that low normal levels are optimal. If that is what you want, then see him. After having seen two endocrinologists, all I can SEE is that they only use TSH to judge how much you are prescribed. Therefore, if you have "secondary hypothyroidism", good luck with that. You probably will not be prescribed the correct amount of hormone.

I waited 3 months to see this provider who was listed as one of the top 10 in missouri. I was belittled, not listened to and he immediately set about to discredit one of my other doctors which I thought was very unprofessional. He recommended I get off hormone replacement therapy immediately which has worked well for me for a number of years he the dismissed me telling me I didn't need someone with his expertise and years in medical school I could just get my other doctor to write my prescription. If asked I would not recommend his services to anyone I left his office feeling mistreated and unheard after just 1 visit!

He was extremely rude and personally insulted both me and my wife. He had not even introduced himself when he started ordering us to move out of the room we were in, He was the absolute rudest doctor I have ever experienced! He talked 90 miles an hour as if he had way to much caffeine that morning. He was speaking in a very sarcastic tone when he several times stated" God Bless America", perhaps because of my Air Force hat I had on. My wife and I came very close to walking out of the appointment, but stayed and it took us a couple of days to get over the meeting with him.

He is very knowledgeable in his field as well Dr Svaboda is excellent in explaining conditions so the patient is able to understand exactly what is going on with your body! Listens to the patient and actually hears them. I like that in a Doctor.

Dr. Svoboda replaced Dr. Lyon, who retired and provided superb insightful and experienced care, in my health care. He and staff have purveyed a smooth comforting transition exceptional quality, experienced, and compassionate services for what is a short significant interchange, a doctor's appointment, et al.

Dr. Svoboda seemed to have a wonderful personality. While he was easy to be around, I don't feel like he heard any of my concerns. He seemed very rushed, typed on his laptop as I spoke to him and gave no real explanations of what might be causing my symptoms. I explained that the medicine that was prescribed made my symptoms worse and he then increased my dose with no explanation...only a call from his nurse to notify of the change. Calls to the office for more explanation were not returned. I expected more from a specialist. I have since found a new doc.

To much joking around for such a serious issue. Not worried at all by my symptoms because--wait for it--- levels were good--he just gave me a pill and that is it. No explanation of this horrible disease! WHAT? WAIT WHAT? I have a new Endo across the street now.

My wife's visit, on Apr 24, with Dr Svoboda was totally and completely worthless. We requested a referral, from primary physician, to an endocrinologist and was referred to Dr Svoboda. He is a very nice and humorous man to talk with but offered no solutions. My wife explained her problems and symptoms. His answer was: you understand that it could be 1, 2 or 3 different things working together. He said let's wait and see what develops. Her problems have been ongoing for months now. Then he suggested we go back to our primary physician to see if he had any better ideas. If he did, he probably would not have referred us to begin with. Then he went off on a tangent and suggested she get her heart checked for a different issue. I have no problem with checking the heart but he offered to do no further testing, diagnosis or treatment for any of her issues from the referral, only suggested she was getting older and wait and see what happens. If you need a stuffy, rigid, and overly-professional doctor, Dr. Svoboda is not your guy. If you want a doctor who cares, will spend time with you to ensure you understand your situation, options, and treatment plan you're on the right track. If you want a doctor who likes to have fun and keep things light make an appointment now. Dr. Svoboda has a great bedside manner and an even better sense of humor. He is very knowledgeable but still does a great job of explaining things in lay terms.

Very personable and patient. I did not feel rushed, I felt that he was actually listening to my concerns. He took the time to make sure my questions were answered.

Dr. Svoboda is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. He takes time to listen to my needs, and to answer my questions. He cares about his patients. I would gladly recommend him to others.

I have undergone the care of Dr. Svoboda several times this year. He has a great bedside manner and is very down to earth. He is one of the easiest doctors to talk to and very knowledgeable. His initial diagnosis was a rare disease that covered all of my symptoms and the tests proved him out. The staff in the combined office don't have the greatest communication between the patient and him, but working with his office manager has been very effective.

Had a great experience. Dr. Svoboda spent a lot of time explaining my condition. His treatment plan has me feeling better...just after a few months. The entire staff was professional and very polite.

Dr. Svoboda is extremely professional, honest, and highly well-experienced doctor. I met a lot of endocrinologist doctors around the world and I can tell the difference between a good and bad doctors. He spent a good amount of time explaining what I have and what I should be doing, and the nurse who works with him is very kind, patience and helpful. He is the BEST. :)
