Pain after Root canal & crown 3 months ago
Dr. Hall is NOT gentle while giving numbing shots. I have NEVER in my life had a more painful shot in my mouth before going to him. He does not allow any numbing to happen between moving the needle. The needle hit the nerve and it felt like lightening struck my bottom lip and caught on fire. While pulling my legs up on the chair and nearly biting his thumb off, not once did he slow down or act the least bit concerned about the pain I was in. I told him my tooth was very sensitive to cold and hot and throbbing pain. He did the bite test to mark the high points of my tooth, which was once completely normal right after the procedure was first done. He then began to grind down on this tooth with the sanding drill which was extremely painful. He then numbed me w/ the lightening rod in order to finish. Told me to come back in a month. My husband has the same pain in his tooth that Dr. Hall did a root canal and crown on. Lack of sympathy, very rough! 4 days after “fixing” it, lot of pain.

When Dr Hall said I should have a painful procedure performed and I refused because it was totally unnecessary. No dentist prior to my visit here every suggested having this procedure done. So his office said they could not schedule me for any visit until I had this procedure done. I have never been denied care because I refused an unnecessary procedure! Not going back here.

Overall, the experience that my wife and I have had with Dr. Hall and his team is quite unsatisfactory. I have had an extraction prior to a proposed implant which supposedly was to be performed under local anesthetic but for which I have no recollection for 17 hours and from which I suffered a chronic ear and eye infection for 10 days. I also underwent a marathon session of two crowns and a root canal during which the doctor and his assistant managed to get the crowns mixed up and on the wrong teeth. My wife just underwent another marathon session of 3.5 hours during which a crown was fitted the wrong way and she had to be numbed up again to have the crown drilled out, remade and fitted the correct way. These guys are sleeping at the wheel!

I went to Dr. Hall for a second opinion concerning a painful premolar. I was also intrigued by the same-day root canal and crown procedure that he performs. Dr. Hall took the time to explain to me how a normal tooth structure looks like and why my premolar was impaired. I didn't feel any pressure, which made my decision to go ahead with the root canal easier. The real surprise was how efficiently and quickly the whole procedure went. In about an hour and a half I was out with a multi-pronged root canal, natural looking crown, perfectly fitted and shaped. The in-house ceramic scanning and forming machine that carved the crown is an amazing technology and Dr. Hall and his staff are very skilled at using it. The office has two of them so there's no need to use an outside lab, the wait and multiple visits. I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Hall for both his solid dental medicine experience and for his skillful adoption of new technology.

Dr. Hall took over for Dr. Gelman. He does not wait for the numbing shot to take affect before he starts drilling. This has happened quite a few times even though I tell him I'm not numb yet. I also had a crown that cracked, so while checking into what needed to be done to replace that crown, Dr. Hall informs me the tooth next to it needs a root canal, which he does root canals. Even though that tooth isn't bothering me at all he says I need to go ahead and get it done because within two months I will be having trouble with it. I did not let him do anything with that tooth, thank goodness. I started using another dentist. They could not find anything wrong with the tooth he claimed needed a root canal. It has been over 4 years and so far that tooth has not bothered me at all. There are other people in our office that had similar problems with Dr. Hall and also quit using him.

NO CONFIDENCE IN THIS PROVIDER! While new to the area, I sought out a new dentist for routine care and visited Dr. Hall's office. He recommended so much work on my teeth I could not believe it! I was so astonished at his recommendations for my care that I immediately searched out a second opinion. Not only did the second dentist provide full dental x-rays disproving Dr. Hall's recommendations, he laughed when I mentioned his name! In my opinion, run, don't walk away from this greedy character.
