Can't say enough good things
Went to Beth Israel after an unsatisfactory outcome at another hospital. I was fortunate to find Dr. Wixted and his team. From the first meeting, I felt Dr. Wixted understood the situation, and was very clear about what needed to be done. He spent time with my husband and I - even drew pictures for us, so that we understood the nature of the surgery he was recommending, the risks, benefits and alternatives. It is now four months past surgery (as I type this), and the recovery has been SO much better than the prior course of action. I have good insurance, and could have picked any of the excellent Boston Medical Centers. So glad that I chose BIDMC.

Remarkably friendly and knowledgeable
I saw Dr. Wixted for a second opinion about getting surgery or not on a broken axial surface of my tibia. He took time to review the nature of my injury, showing me my x-rays and an earlier CT scan ... he fully explained why surgery was not necessary. I was most impressed that he answered all my questions without looking at his watch like most doctors & healthcare professionals have done in my treatment journey. The entire staff at BIDMC Orthopedic Trauma clinic were equally caring, informative and helpful!

Dr. Wixted is the best there is.
I had a tibial plateau fracture and he did an amazing job fixing me up. His experience is beyond questioning, but he is also one of the most humble doctors in this area, as orthopedic doctors sometimes are not know for their bedside manner. People come from all over the world to get Boston quality medical care, and this doctor is worthy of the esteem he has earned.

Dr Wixted is the best orthopedic surgeon around. I had a ankle open fracture and thank God, dr. Wixted was working at MGH on that horrific night of my accident. He did a fabulous job on my foot/ankle. 16 years passed and I am doing absolutely great.

Dr Wixted was very professional and also very caring. He explained everything that was going to happen and listened to my concerns. I had a total left hip replacement and even though I was considered high risk he was willing to help me when a different Dr refused. I would definitely recommend Dr Wixted to anyone! Everyone associated with his office was also very nice.

Met Dr. Wixted after 5 months of a non-union humeral fracture. He was very pleasant and clear in what he would do surgically. Scheduled me for sugery 1 week later. Could not ask for a better experience or surgical result. Recommended without hesitation.

I was hit hard by a car while walking in May of 2018, and Dr. Wixted was the trauma surgeon who caught my case in the Beth Israel emergency room. I had multiple injuries, and the care I received was extraordinary. Dr. Wixted evaluated my fractured knee, and possible injuries to the rest of me, and he was calm, professional, and I felt in very good hands. In the ER, and in follow-up, he gave me his full attention, and at every decision point he included me fully, listened, and cared.

I dislocated and fractured my arm and shoulder in multiple places 2 years ago in a mountain biking accident. Dr. Wixted performed the emergency surgery and did a phenomenal job, utilizing a metal plate and 8 screws to give me a functioning shoulder joint again. I am a physical therapist and understand how much work and skill it took for such a good outcome. In addition to his surgical skill he is easy to talk to and very responsive. I feel extremely fortunate that he was my surgeon.

Very rude and condescending! Told my son he'll have to live with his patella alta...referred us to Sports medicine. I do not recommend this doctor especially if you are transgender. We feel as though he discriminated against my son for this reason???????? Shame on him!
