Dr. John Shelton, MD

Dr. Shelton is great. He does everything he can to keep his patients healthy without a bunch of medicines, something that is very important to me! He tells it like it is and really cares. We actually moved from Waco the the Texas coast and I refuse to find a Dr. Down here. I travel back to Waco because he is worth it. The staff is great as well, always helpful and friendly.

So patient and actually listens when you’re explaining your issues! Very thorough but not quick to prescribe unneeded medicine!

I have had him as my PCP for over a decade. He’s very thorough and takes his time. I never feel rushed and I do feel heard. He keeps up to date on current recommendations for vaccines and tests. He does not push things you do not want. I have done a telehealth appointment as well, same great experience.

I feel he was instrumental in saving my life. At the age of 66 he discovered a heart murmur I was never aware of and took immediate steps to get me in with a cardiologist. A year later I had open heart surgery to correct/replace a congenitally malformed aortic valve. I have had an additional 11 years of life at this point as a result that would not have been possible for me without surgery. He has always been considerate of my concerns and proactive in my treatment. Even though I no longer live in Waco I travel back for my biannual visits to see him and will probably do so as long as i’m able to make the trip.

During my annual physical, Dr. Shelton pointed out that it looked like I had an umbilical hernia. I would not have known and left unchecked, it would have proceeded to get worse.
