Dr. John Nelson, DDS

Went for my first visit to Dr. Nelson at Midtown Dental Miami today. Really was an extraordinary experience. He had newer digital X-ray equipment that made that part of the appointment more efficient and comfortable. The hygienist was excellent and did a very thorough job cleaning my teeth. I needed a debriding. Took a long time and she was extremely patient. He did not try to sell me on any unnecessary products or procedures. He explained everything clearly, so I understood what I needed to do for best dental health. I highly recommend Dr. Nelson!

I tried to make an appt as a new patient but the office staff was a turn off. I'll go elsewhere. I have a straightforward issue (cracked a tooth and need a crown). My regular dentist is out of network and it was going to be $$$$ so I looked for an in-network dentist on the Aetna site and found Dr. Nelson. I thought it would be an easy process to make an appt and get a crown. I was wrong. The soonest appt they offered was a month out (fine) but that's only an "examination" because the doctor wants to make his "own assessment." Seriously?! It's a cracked tooth! I have x-rays, a referral and two working eyeballs. It seems more likely the unnecessary, extra visit is simply a money grab for more revenue. There's no logical reason why someone should not be able to make an appt for the crown. Even if the doctor believes he needs to "assess" first, why can't that be done in the same appt. as the crown? Bill padding. Plain and simple

I have always been super afraid of dentist and anything dental. But by putting it off it brings bigger issues. Then I discovered Dr Nelson through a friend and I am so thankful. The dr is amazing and the staff just completes the service. They are caring and will do everything to make you feel comfortable. He also has the best music on all the time.

Excellent service overall and extremely satisfied with my Invisalign treatment. Highly recommend this Dentist.

I have a complication with my wisdom teeth extraction and he was always there for me. I felt I was in the best hands... Now I am doing better and I will never forget how he hold my hand! He is excellent as a doctor and as a human being.

Dr. Nelson recommended a crown on a healthy tooth with a small cavity, he destroyed a healthy tooth and as the crown was not measured correctly he tried to adjust his mistake drilling the other healthy tooth on top. It was a hassle to make a complain with the insurance company but demonstrating all evidence they returned my money, but now I loosed 2 healthy dental pieces for life. please be careful with this Doctor ask for couple different opinions before you decide to go with Dr. Nelson

Office staff unhelpful and would not honor benefits of an insurance plan in which they are a provider. Tried to tell me that benefits did not work they way they are clearly explained by both my carrier and in plan documents. Customer service fail, or bad practice policy? If the latter, they are unwilling to provide second opinion visit at rates under insurance policy. I would give zero stars if Health Grades allowed it.
