Dr. John McAndrew, MD

My favorite of the OBs at GCMC. He listens to his patients and does not push unnecessary medical interventions, he respects his patients’ wishes. He has a good bedside manner and speaks with you clearly and without medical jargon.

Dr. McAndrew is great. He advocates for his patients and cares for them. Unfortunately the office as a whole is horribly understaffed. I scheduled my postpartum appointment for 6 weeks after the baby was born and it was canceled on me the day of the appointment. They rescheduled for 3 weeks later and it was again canceled the day of (after I got to the office). It was rescheduled for 2 weeks later and again was rescheduled after I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes. They rescheduled for 2 weeks later, but at that point I gave up. I wish that was an isolated event, but throughout my pregnancy, they had to reschedule appointments several times. It shouldn’t be that difficult to get seen by a doctor.

For any mama looking for a dr who truly cares, I would recommend Dr McAndrew. He delivered my son in October this year and I felt like I was in good hands. My whole pregnancy, up to my sons birth was great. This was my third and last child. I have delivered in El Paso, Misawa and now Alamogordo and I can tell you this was the best birth experience ever. He addressed any concerns I had and gave advice when needed. I have zero complaints. Even during these days with covid I felt the nurses, staff and hospital put our health first before anything. Thank you dr McAndrew and thank you Gerald champion hospital!!

The doctors at White Sands are the perfect combination of compassionate and professional. I have a variety of obstetrical and gynecological issues. Dr. McAndrew, Dr. Shin, and the high risk specialist went above and beyond to ensure I had a safe delivery. We're so grateful for our beautiful, healthy baby.

Dr. McAndrew did my Mirena IUD insertion. I was pretty terrified, but he made me very comfortable with lots of jokes and by clearly explaining everything that he did. Very positive experience and I would be happy to see him again for any other OBGYN needs.

I liked that he took time to make sure I knew everything and he was super quick!

I appreciated being able to talk with this doctor about my issues and felt like I was being heard and understood. This was my first visit so wasn't sure what to expect. I appreciate that he has a great sense of humor because it puts you at ease from the start. The staff was very attentive and friendly as well. Thanks for a pleasant experience even though I am rarely thrilled to see a Gynecologist!

My First visit to talk about tubal ligation and it was so easy to ask questions and become aware of what it was about. Very calm and professional.

Had two visit with him, so far. First pregnancy. Dr. McAndrew was awesome, made me feel very comfortable and answered all my questions! Every staff member with his office has been awesome too!

Dr. Mcandrew is the best in Alamogordo. I saw him the most through my prenatal care & he delivered my son. I couldn't have had a better experience. He is so calm and comforting. Extremely knowledgeable and professional. I never worried a second about mine or my child's care. His sense of humor is refreshing and the nurses on shift with him on Feb. 25 2020 were absolutely wonderful!!! He reminds me of my pops and so it made my experience more sentimental. If anyone ever bad mouthed this man I would never believe a word they said!!! Hands down best around!! <3

My feelings towards the women’s clinic is low, but my feelings on how this doctor was prompt and to the point and quick on what I needed and to get it done was high.

The staff was friendly and Dr. McAndrew was took his time and gave me different treatment options. I was very please and will return

Dr. McAndrew is absolutely phenomenal. He's super laid back during office visits, and exactly the same during labor... We were talking between contractions like there was nothing major going on. I absolutely enjoyed my delivery experience with him.

Dr. McAndrew was great. He was very to the point, and pleasant; which I think is extremely important in his line of work. Not only did I find Dr. McAndrew pleasant, but his staff was just as kind and friendly.

We could not have been happier with Dr. McAndrew’s care! My husband loved him! He’s very calm and thorough. Great bedside manner. We are very pleased.
