I worked with Dr. Lyon for about 5 years, focusing on PT and avoiding surgery - my choice. Then, it was time and recently, I had hip replacement surgery with Dr. Lyon at Lutheran General and could not be more pleased. At 8 days after surgery, I switched from a walker to a cane and by 10 days was off all narcotic pain meds. Now, 15 days after surgery, I'm using a stationary bike, swimming slowly, and walking very evenly. And, I feel great. He and his surgical team did wonderfully. As I get my hips and legs back into condition, sleeping is a bit hard, but that's normal after surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Lyon. As an aside, my wife and my business partner also used him for hip replacement and both were completely satisfied.

I first encountered Dr Lyon when I was in an accident and needed surgery to repair a broken hip. Immediately he was very interested in my well being and wanted to ensure that I would recover with the maximum amount of use of my leg. The surgery was a great success. A year later it became apparent I needed knee replacement surgery. After several conversations with Dr Lyon to discuss the pros and cons of this surgery at my age, I felt assured it was the right thing to do without any pressure from him one way or the other. He explained everything in a matter-of-fact way that was easy to understand and gave me confidence in my decision. That surgery also went extremely well and my recovery has been as expected with good results. I would highly recommend Dr Lyon for his vast experience and good bedside manner.

Dr Lyon has perform my tibia surgery in 2015. My followup meetings half the time felt short, as he is a very busy guy. Few years later, I have ankle pain, went to another doc for 2nd opinion, wasted my attempted 2 mos of recovery time. Decided to go back to John. They squeezed an appt, although all booked. John immediately see the issue, which other otho doc failed to see and sent me to ankle specialist. He is a busy guy and may not have time to converse but he is definitely knowledgeable!

Dr. Lyon did my knee replacement which ended in outstanding results. He cares about the whole patient and the whole process from beginning to end. During recovery I have had such a positive mental attitude and feel that things could not have gone better. My last several visits my wait time has been minimal, however there are times when the wait can be lengthy but he is well worth the wait.

Dr. Lyon performed both of my hip replacements: Left in 2007, and Right in 2012, so now that I'm having pain (possibly related to a compacted disc) it seemed a logical step to put myself under his excellent care again. After 9 + yrs. my left hip has never given me any grief, and Xrays show that both implants are still in good shape. If I should need any further surgery to correct the disc issue, I'm confident that whatever he recommends will be what's best.

From November, 2014 to June, 2015, I suffered debilitating hip pain, which was misdiagnosed by several orthopods, until I was blessed to find Dr. John H. Lyon, who accepted the challenge of my high risk bleeding disorder and performed my successful hip surgery. His credentials, intelligence, immense skill, high standards, and personal attention to his patients have made it easy for me to eagerly refer him to many friends, who have also benefitted from his excellent care ... we love him!
