I was Dr. Lurain’s patient for 12 years. I survived cancer through his care and his wonderful staff. I would highly recommend Doctor Lurain to family and friends. As of January 2020, this amazing Doctor retired and is greatly missed.

The man saved my life. He was so calm and caring. I pray for his health every day. So he can be there for others. He showed up at the er the day I threw a clot. His confidence gave me the confidence I needed to stay the course and beat cancer. His nurse Karen was also a big part of the cure. She was amazing. I truly love them both.

Dr. Lurain has a lifetime of valuable experience and is probably the most highly regarded gynecologic oncologist in chicagoland. He helped me thru my uterine cancer and follow up appointments and never hesitates to listen to my fears and answer questions!

My wife was recommended to him for advice. After hundred dollars he gave us no insight to her cancer that we had not known and was flippant regarding her treatment. He showed zero interest in our dilemma and no compassion. All this was bad enough but he also insisted on a rectal exam for my wife! No explanation as to why it was necessary and gave us no feedback. Gave us more opinion regarding Cubs playoffs than her cancer. Really weird. I honestly don't think he gave 5 minutes thought to us.

This is the worst doctor I have ever encountered. He becomes annoyed and sarcastic if you ask too many questions, or if you want to seek a second opinion. He is rude, uncaring, and disrespectful. Do NOT go to this doctor - you can do much better just about anywhere else you go.

This man is a very cruel man. He hardly ever saw my mother and put her on treatments that went against my mother's previous doctors advice. One day he tells my mother she only has about a 2 or 3 weeks left. He showed no compassion and dumped my mother. When my brother started questioning him he started yelling at him while my mother cried. We decided to go to the mayo clinic and she lived another 8 months. They said they could have saved her if she were brought to them first based on her record.

I don't doubt that doctor Lurain gave my mother good medical advice, but he was impatient, inaccessible, and too busy to be bothered with her as she neared the end of treatment and began the path toward hospice. I was appalled by his repeatedly dismissive attitude towards her, but she was too overwhelmed to change doctors. She reached the end of her care hospitalized and referred to hospice without so much as a visit or phone call. Dr. Lurain made a difficult week for our family so much worse.

I have been a nurse for 40 years and rarely have I seen a physician treat someone the way he treated me. He brought several residents in the exam room and told me I was discriminating when I told him I preferred not to have men present during my pelvic exam. He embarrassed and humiliated me even after I told him I had a history of sexual abuse. My chart clearly states I have PTSD. He had no compassion what so ever.

I've been seeing Dr. Lurain since 2008 when he performed my surgery for endometrial stromal sarcoma. He is the best doctor I've ever had. He is kind and has a good sense of humor. I researched him before selecting him and he is the most experienced and knowledgable specialist in this area. I trust and respect him. When I see him annually, I feel that he is really paying attention to changes in my health and feel comfort in his assessment. Please don't retire, Dr. Lurain!
