Happy to be a patient...
I have been a patient of Dr. Koostra's for several years. I find him to be knowledgeable, informative, friendly, a great listener and caring. I always enjoy a good visit with him and feel confident in his approach to my issues. He is on top of what may be going on with me and orders diagnostic tests appropriately. I appreciate the time he spends with me and his explanation of his findings and what I can expect. He is also fun to talk with, having a wonderful personality that will put you at ease from hello.

Amazing Dr with a Caring Style
Dr Koostra has a very approachable style. He listens. He asks questions. Then he has a masterful approach, leaving no possibility off of his list. He tests extensively, and he gives you hope that he can find the cause of virtually any medical issue. And, he does it with a smile that you know is sincere. But, best of all, my oxygen level is increasing! And, that is priceless.

Dr. Koostra provides excellent medical care. He is very thorough with his examinations and lab testing. I have rarely experienced such personal and conscientious care from another physician in Monterey County. His competence and pleasant listening skills make me feel relieved and assured that I am I am receiving the care that I need to cope with my chronic lung disease! An added plus is his staff. They are efficient, professional and always helpful. I wish that other medical offices staff could emulate their outstanding qualities. I highly recommend Dr. Koostra and feel very fortunate to be his long-term patient.

Dr. Koostra is a wonderful physician. He is very thorough and knowledgeable about pulmonary problems. He has been very helpful to me and to my wife since we started seeing him two years ago. My internist did not even know that I had COPD or asthma and John Kustra proved it to me with testing that I did have COPD and asthma. He also offered me treatment which is been very beneficial. He’s also very kind and caring.

I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have Dr. Koostra as my COPD expert. In addition to being an extremely competent doctor , I believe he genuinely cares about his patients . He always takes enough time during appointments to understand my concerns , and I have never felt that he had to move on to his next patient until all of my concerns had been addressed. I give Dr. Koostra the highest possible recommendation.

Dr Koostra is an etremely skilled Dr. Very personable. Knows what to do. I would give him a 5. Getting in touch with him when I need him is very fifficult, and getting an urgent appointment is next to impossible. Have gone to ER when sick. New office waiting room is cramped, very bad if another patient is sick and actively coughing and contagous. I would highly recommend Dr Koostra as a Dr, but with reservation about his availibility.
