I had a horrible experience with Dr Kerrison
Over a year after Retinal reattachment surgery on my left eye .. I’ve been left with blurry vision . I can’t read a car license plate right in front of me .. I see smaller .. Straight lines are not completely straight .. I feel the eye every time I blink .. The eye is full of floaters .. Glasses cannot fix the problem so reading is difficult unless I wear a patch .. It’s been very difficult to deal with this dilemma for me as well as my Family … and yet I endure .Communication with this doctor has been poor ..I feel that he talks to you in a condescending manner . Overall I must say that my experience has been a horror show . I was a teacher , counselor and a coach of multiple sports so let me just say you all … Do your homework .

Didn’t let me speak.
Sat and waited over an hour for an eye exam that was less than 2 minutes. Wrote all my worries and other doctors concerns off as in my head or (the other doctors wrong) now the other doctor wasn’t wrong I did indeed have Papilledema and a rare brain condition (iih) that I told Dr. Kerrison I had. He told me I was making it up (reading off google) or the other doctor was seeing things because I didn’t have the swelling at that moment. I left in tears as he was my second opinion and I’m so glad I went with my gut and trusted my first doctor since he spent well over an hour with me explaining my new condition and what Papilledema was. This doctor did no such thing. I was truly disappointed. I get a rare diagnosis and go to a doctor that deals with the brain and eyes and he couldn’t even be bothered to hear me out and cut me off multiple times. My favorite thing he said I could have POLLEN… and allergies.

Run.
This man lead me to believe I was in good hands with his prayers. It is a facade! John Kerrison did 5 surgeries on one eye in 2 years. Not only did he botch my eye up, he left me completely blind in it. Years of surgery and pain, he did procedures that I DID NOT sign off on at Trident Surgery Center! (gas bubble) and when I awoke everyone can attest that was there, he did that without my consent! After the last consultation he told me to get a second opinion if I felt I was “botched”. I did. I got about 5 different options from various eye doctors. EVERY single doctor I spoke to told me HE is what caused permanent damage to my eye. I was told by different nurses at different places who have worked beside him how terrible he is. After getting opinions from another ophthalmologist that he told me to get, that doctor said he is a nightmare and that he gets patients for “second opinions all the time from messed up surgeries Kerrison has preformed.”

Dr. Kerrison asked my husband for the reason for his visit but did not appear to listen or acknowledge what he said, jumping right into his eye exam. My husband is an established patient of this doctor, his last visit 5 years ago. He was referred back by ED and ophtho for worsened double vision, facial pain and twitches, bouts of extreme fatigue and effects on his cognition which led to the ED visit. When my husband explained these symptoms, Dr. Kerrison cut my husband off and said those symptoms you are taking about “don’t help me” and was dismissive of his concerns. He said they ruled out other neurologic diseases downplaying the severity of his condition “it’s not progressive” he’s “seen thousands” like him and decided probably trauma to the eye socket that is the problem, but could not confirm it because his office failed to request the ED MRIs despite 2 phone calls to discuss this prior to the appt. He left the room abruptly.

He will hurt your face and the delicate skin around your eyes when looking in your eyes. He does not try to be careful. I have fingerprint bruises around my eye. I even told him at the time, "That hurts!" It made no difference. Plan on spending 3 hrs. even with an appt. He is also passive aggressive with his "humor." Saying, "I am joking," when he insults you.

Dr. Kerrison is fantastic. I have been a regular patient of his since 2017. Both of my eyes are damaged, one unlikely to recover full vision and the other with some pesky problems of its own. Having dealt with many doctors, I find that Dr. Kerrison is clearly the most intelligent, thoughtful and caring of all. He is obviously quite knowledgeable about my situation and clear in his explanations, as well as patient with my questions. He is extremely careful in his treatments and makes my options and risks very clear, helping me avoid a procedure that has risk that I don't wish to take. It is obvious that his concern for my overall well-being exceeds his zeal for surgery. I have every confidence in his knowledge and advice. In addition, his staff are well-trained, personable and efficient. Without reservation, I highly recommend Dr. Kerrison.

I don’t know where to begin to give adequate accolades to Dr. Kerrison and his team. I have been seen by Dr. Kerrison every 6-8 weeks for 6 years for ocular injections. As one can imagine they are not pleasant. But the entire team makes the process as stress-free as possible and I actually look forward to my appointments. I often bring cupcakes and books to share to show my appreciation for their kindness, friendliness, expertise and professionalism. I feel very blessed to have Dr. Kerrison as my Retinologist. And as an aside—he is a hoot! He always makes me laugh. I also want to especially thank Kerry who has been my constant assistant during the injections for 6 years. She is a delightful addition to my visits. I cannot recommend this team more highly.

Dr. Kerrison, Is one of the most knowledgeable and skilled retina specialists. I have been under his care for three years and he has navigated me through a host of retina related issues that could have resulted in severe, if not permanent vision loss. Most recently Dr. Kerrison discovered my dry AMD was possibly turning to wet. His early intervention has resulted in a stable, if not improved field of vision. I'm grateful to be under his care.

I was a patient of his for a few years. When it came time for me to have injections in my eye he hurt me severely on my second injection. All he had to do is prescribe a small tube of medication for $5, but no he never thought to have me pick up a tube. So for 5 days I suffered in agony and pain. I finally saw another associate in the practice who help me immensely. He said the doctor probably just forgot. And I said it should be religious to prescribe this pain medication immediately. I got the medication I needed and within 24 hours I was fine. This doctor is cold and calice, he has no people skills much less concerns about peoples fears and pains. I don't see him anymore, but I still go to the head of the practice who is very kind and caring and concerning. He really hurt me, I never went back to face him and let him know how I feel because I'll probably hurt him if I see him. I don't recommend this doctor but the practice that he's in is fantastic.

He hurt my eye and left me traumatized. There is not one ounce of compassion in this man. Had to follow up with another doctor who was much kinder and actually listened to me. He proceeded to do surgery on my eye without telling me what he was doing, and did not use enough anesthetic. I was in so much pain. Please seek treatment elsewhere, because nobody deserves to be treated this way.

If I could give Dr. Kerrison zero stars, I would without question. What a terrible experience. First, as a physician you should NEVER belittle a patient in your office, making them question their intelligence. I do not care how many degrees you have, at the end of the day you put your pants on the same way I do and should listen to my symptoms to form a proper diagnoses. Second, do not tell me I am not listening and talk over me while I am explaining concerns. Avoid this office. ????

Terrible service. Doctor lied directly to patient and is now actively avoiding patient not to mention apparently advising or at least allowing his receptionist/phone answerers such as Heidi and others to hang up whenever trying to contact doctor to find out why patient was lied to. Avoid this doctor and his practice at all costs!

Excellent physician. One of the most compassionate and knowledgeable physicians you will ever meet. Dr. Kerrison is a patients first Doctor. He is extremely flexible and will do anything to help a patient in need. I have never met a harder working physician. Cannot recommended him enough.
