Dr. John Johansen, MD

Contacted for a second opinion after surgery scheduled. I had fallen and injured my wrist and shoulder. Primary care thought wrist was fractured and referred me to another doctor. He determined no fracture and prescribed physical therapy for my shoulder pain. After completing PT he ordered an MRI. On reading the MRI he immediately suggested surgery even though my pain is much improved. I contacted Orthopedic 1 for another opinion. Dr Johansen reviewed the MRI new X-rays and examined me. He agreed that my cuff was torn but he would not do surgery at this time. He explained at length why, and answered my questions. I decided that the surgery was not necessary at this time due to my age and lack of pain. I have been with Orthopedic One for years. They have treated my knee, back, hand, neck, and probably other things that I don’t recall. This includes three surgeries. I highly recommend them.

I’m 26 days post op, L knee replacement pain and swelling has not stopped. Now starting to lock up with increased swelling and pain horrible experience.

I was blessed to have him as my doctor. I had the first shoulder surgery, then days later fell on it busting the screws he placed out with no bone left to install more. 2nd surgery 8 hours later he fixed the shoulder from the damage. Then another random injury requiring a 3rd surgery. He wasnt sure if I would ever get it back, but with his last successful surgery 10 years later I am still able to use it. Thanks Dr J!

I injured my shoulder. After the MRI, He proceeded with my appointment with what “we” were going to do. Never asking me one question, never had me to rate my pain. I left in tears. Did not review the MRI results with me. He may have been right, but his lack of bedside manners shut down my hearing. I have loved Orthopedic One, this one was a surprise for me.

Dr. Johansen is very kind about his approach to medicine. I highly recommend him.

I was having pain in my shoulder. The pain was waking me up several times every night. Decided to go see Dr. Johansen. He knew exactly what was wrong by my symptoms. Did X-rays and then an MRI and it was a torn rotator cuff. He fixed me right up. It’s been exactly one year since he oerforned the surgery and I am as good as new and so grateful to him! He’s very professional, an excellent surgeon with an awesome bedside manner! I definitely recommend him.

Dr. Johansen put my leg back together after a really bad break. He's one of the best and has excellent intuition and is very personable.
