As a woman I was not taken very seriously. A few years back I had come in after having a minor rectal prolapse and was told it was impossible at my age to have had that happened. I explained that it did and he said there was absolutely no way at my age. About 6 months later I was diagnosed with E.D.S. Which explains why I had a prolapse at such a young age. The fact that he didn’t even consider it could be a possibility at my age, refused to believe me as if I were “crazy” as most male doctors treat women- left me extremely frustrated and upset as I received no care or advice l.

Was dismissive of my issues, blamed it on my weight and on other meds I was on. Didn't do any type of exam outside of speaking to me for a couple minutes and sending me on my way. Went to another doctor and turns out I have a severe issue that needed surgery.

Never called me to follow up on abnormal test results- I found out about them when I asked for a copy of my record months later, after my symptoms were written off. Ended up getting a referral to another doctor when I complained about the lack of follow up.
