I have been seeing Dr John Howard for over 5 years but this most recent incident has me looking elsewhere for a primary care physician. Dr Howard's nurse has always been rude and dismissive and I have tolerated it. During my most recent annual physical his nurse informed me that Dr Howard would be giving me a pelvic exam which I politely declined and explained that I was under the care of an OB/GYN which they were previously aware of. Several weeks later it came time for one of my medications to be refilled as usual by Dr Howard's office but the pharmacy told me Dr Howard REFUSED to fill it. I inquired directly to Dr Howard's office about my refills and was told flatly that Dr Howard would no longer see me as a patient!

Dr. Howard is my doctor. I feel extremely blessed that he accepted me as a new patient 2 years ago. At every appt. I’ve had, he listens and explains his diagnosis and answers any questions I might have. I trust his knowledge and have great respect for his opinion. He is very thorough and I appreciate that. I have no complaints and highly recommend him, although I’m not sure if he’s taking new patients at this time.

The staff and Dr. Howard are not very informative when it comes to questioning why certain procedures are ordered. In all fairness to the patient certain details should be discussed instead of "just because" or " it's the patients responsibility to understand what, why and how".

Dr. Howard is a disgrace to the medical field. I have a dear friend that was recently his patient until about a week ago. She is in her 80’s, has cancer and a blood clotting disorder. As of recent, she has been having EXTREMELY high blood pressure and irregular heartbeat that has put her at risk for a stroke. So high, that a few weeks ago they called her children that live out of town to come to the hospital because they didn’t think she would make it through the night. She was supposed to have an appointment one afternoon with him but ended up in the hospital earlier that morning. She missed her appointment because she was in the hospital and Dr. Howard “let her go as his patient”. He refuses to see or speak to her and has said he will only refill any prescriptions for the next 30 days. I have worked in the medical field a long time and am appalled that this man would leave this sweet lady, in such fragile health, with no primary medical care. He should be ashamed of himself!

I have had Dr Howard as my primary care physician for 2.5 years. I've been very ill since I first saw him but he doesn't take enough time to listen to me, explain his decisions, get to the bottom of any concern, or show that he cares. I gave up on him helping me awhile ago but have kept him just because I feel it's important to have a Dr for emergencies but I will be finding a new Dr. I leave feeling like it was pointless to even go.

Has been my doctor for many years and he has always been pro-active and thorough in his exams. However, the last couple of years he has become less approachable and I'm reluctant to ask questions because of his increasingly "I'm the all-knowing doctor and you are the subservient patient" attitude. I have considered changing doctors but being thorough is more important to me than arrogance which I will have to try to ignore and ask questions of his staff instead. Exam rooms very cold.
