Unprofessional, lacks empathy & compassion
This doctor is egotistical. He does not listen nor allow patients to ask questions even if there is a non understanding of an issue. If you question (or try to), he backs up against the wall and tries to yell that the patient is getting 'pushy'. He is quite laughable at times as a professional. He often makes patients feel inferior in the fact that there are no other places to go with their specific insurance. He holds this over the patients head and tells them he is their only hope. If something happened during the month between appointments (for instance, you had hospital stay), he does not care nor listen to what happened nor care to review hospital paperwork. I understand he works in pain management and sees all sorts of patients, but he automatically puts and assumes that every patient is a liar about their pain despite tests showing otherwise. I also understand the opioid crisis, but treating people in true pain (with evidence of tests) is cruel. Appts with him are dreadful!

We drove three and half hours to see him. He wouldn't look at me,he didn't even look at any tests results that I had,he never even laid hands on me. He just looked at my weight and said rather yelled at me to lose weight. He said he couldn't manage my pain alone I had to pull my weight. He never seen that I have three different diseases or the medication that I am taking . He yelled that I had to get off all things except meat. I just don't understand why and how he is still a m.d.. I would never ever recommend him to anyone.

Very Helpful and Reliable
Previous to my first visit, I was "warned" about Dr. Fairbanks. At my first appointment, I liked him immediately. He's a no-nonsense doctor, who knows his field of practice and more. He's a busy man, who will help his patients, if they will listen to him and do what he says. He's reliable, knowledgeable and knows his patients. He has helped me with my pain management and I am truly grateful. His staff is very helpful and friendly. A great group of people.

He's great for me.
He's been great for me. He believes in working with a patient to better your health. That includes weight loss ,if necessary and staying active. Was having to drive 2.5 hrs each way before I found him. One of the few of drs that takes medicaid and medicare.

I drove 3 hours one way to see this doc, to be belittled , told I’m fat repeatedly, would not let me talk , told me I needed to “pull back from the table” , and learn how to go hungry, tried to say I never had a weight problem in my life until I was pumped with steroids for 2 years, but was cut off any time I tried to talk , was told I need to lace up shoes and walk miles every day, tried to tell him I have severe arthritis in my feet , he looked at my feet and said..I don’t see anything wrong with your feet other than the fact they carry too much weight, I have 3 chronic diseases and horrible issues with my feet , he screamed at me and said I been a doc over 30 plus years you need to loose weight and go to physical therapy, I would not go back to this doc if my life depended on it , his bed side manner is piss poor and so is is staff !

Not a good experience. I respect that he wants to get everything said before you ask questions, but all and all he's just an egotistical a**. He also didn't ask any history. I did tell him I'm diabetic. He then prescribed me a medication that diabetics can't take. I almost died. I don't want to go back to him but he's all thats available with my insurance. He knows that and is aware that he can be as ridiculous and hateful as he wants.

I drove 220 miles, to see a Doctor that told me he did all the talking never asked me at the end if I had any questions. Told me first off you are 100 pounds above your idea weight lost weight quit smoking and go to PT a month which he said wasn’t gonna help. Walk when I’m needing a knee replacement it’s bone on bone. Told me it was the law to treat me I had to quit smoking I goggled it nothing said about having to quit to be treated. He wasn’t gonna go any nerve test til 6 months down the road . When it’s nerve pain I’m having it doesn’t matter skinny or fat nerve pain is pain. Nothing to do with size. I’ve had it when I was skinny. He insulted me just rude I will not be going back to him to be treated like he did. I will look for another Doctor to treat me one that will do test. He hasn’t even done X-rays yet you don’t send someone to PT not knowing what’s truest wrong. It could make person worst.

Dr. Fairbanks is very condescending. Does not give adequate answers for any concerns. At this point he is the last choice available and I feel entrapped by his care due to medicaid.

I will not be going back to this doctor bad bad beside manner! He has little man syndrome and a God complex, he told me "that he was the only or tho doctor that (WE) people have," idk what he meant about (we people) I'm guessing bc I have medicaid but I can't afford better insurance. He changed my medicine to something that counter acts with my other medicine that I'm not suppose to be on without telling my other doctors and he called me fat I have thyroid disease so it made me gain weight. Very rude person doesn't need to be a doctor!

It was a wonderful experience, Dr Fairbanks is a good listener, appreciates your delivery of what conditions that are problematic . I asked him questions and he answered in a prompt, accurate manner. He was calm, spoke with a gentle voice, he made you feel he respected you and genuinely was interested in what he could do to help you. He spoke with a kind voice and seemed that he could be helpful and try alternate treatments, if need be! I would definitely return to Dr John Fairbanks, his acceptance of you and your condition was exceptional. He made you feel very comfortable. Or! It didn’t hurt that his waiting room faced the Mississippi River and the huge bridge crossing over to Natchez, MS. It was a stunning view?? Now back to Dr F; he cares??; and in my book that’s what makes him a very good doctor. MBG

Well my appointment was at At 1:00 p.m. and I didn't get seen and till 4:00 p.m. I had to travel almost 200 miles to see this doctor whom belittled me and made fun of me and refused to treat me mostly because I'm fat and on medicaid. So if you go see this doctor make sure you bring someone with you and don't be afraid to stand up for yourself, if hes doing it to you hes doing it to other people.

Because of bad reviews I cancelled first appointment After family encouragement I rescheduled. This doctor did a better examination than the Ortho. doctor that referred me to him. If you want a doctor to be honest with you, he is the one. I think that only those who do not are the ones that are writing bad reviews. I am so grateful that he did not just give me drugs to make me a drug addict. The entire staff I encountered in this facility were the BEST I have EVER encountered.

Do not waste your time!!! Because I had a heart transplant and would not allow HIM to do the surgery on my arm to correct a torn rotator cuff, his EXACT words were to the nurse, “Get her out of here she makes me sick!” I was humiliated. He doesn’t allow you to talk, period. He even told me I had to take my leggings off for him to look at my legs. For a torn rotator cuff? When he told the pt in the room by me to take her pants off, I heard her thru the wall using expletives! Rudest Dr ever!

My first thought about him during my first visit was that he was being rude and short with me. However, when he left the room and returned, he sat down and talked with me, answered my questions and gave me really good advice. I will be returning to him again soon.

My impression of Dr. Fairbanks is that he is a professional and knows his stuff. He isn’t about small talk and wasting time as he has a numerous variety of patients from necks to ankles. I respect that, moves things along. His head nurse is awesome at coordinating his patients. She is the real star. The front staff is friendly enough. Don’t go here if you want your hand held. Go here if you want your bones fixed right and efficiently.
