Successful L4-L5 Discectomy
Dr. Dorman is a man of very few words, and to be honest, it might seem like he under explains; but he does have an excellent PA (Meg), who more than makes up for any questions one might have. I’m truly grateful that the excruciating pain from my herniated disc is gone. My experience was amazing, and it had everything to do with the staff Dr. Dorman has. From my pre-op appointment which consists of a spinal class where they walk you through everything (give you a folder with instructions), to my post op appointment, the staff was a dream. Their attentiveness and warmth was so helpful and simply friendly! My experience at the hospital with the nurses was also great, I never felt neglected or ignored. It is because of them that I felt I was in good hands.I believe Dr. Dorman is highly skilled and professional in their work but reserved and not particularly personable. I would go through the surgery again without hesitation because it completely relieved the pain I was experiencing.

Might refuse a patient based on prior surgeries
The VA referred me to Dr. Dorman. When calling the office to get appt. They tell me DR Dorman would have to review everything since I have had prior back surgeries, so he may not take me as a patient. What kind of Dr does this without even seeing me.

Great Dr
My 86 year old mother went to the ER with what we thought was sciatica. It ended up being an L4 and L5 herniated disc. With her other health issues, he took the time to explain the risks and that the pain would only worsen over time. He completed the discectomy. After surgery he took the time to explain each of his decisions in a way we could all understand..

L4 Discsectomy
I could no longer sit stand or walk. I was in constant nerve pain and needed immediate intervention. I was referred by a friend to Dr.Dorman and even though his appointments were booked they put me on a waiting list and thankfully were able to see me that following week. Upon seeing my condition and MRI Dr.Dorman recommended surgery and we agreed. He was able to get me in the hospital that night and surgery the next day. Immediately after the surgery I felt a million times better. All the nerve pain was gone and for the first time in months I was able to lay on my back peacefully and without discomfort. I was walking by myself in a couple days I was standing straight and moving better than before. Dr. Dorman gave me my life back and put on the road to recovery. I would recommend him to anyone but especially if you live in the Midland-Odessa area. I was so scared of spinal surgery I tried every other option till there was no other option. If I’d known what I know now he would be my 1st.

Terrible experience
Was sent there by the VA. Felt like the minute I got there I wasn’t welcome. Entire staff was cold. Dr Dorman came in spent maybe two mins looking at my MRI’s and completely invalidated everything wrong with me. Told me nothing was wrong with me when clearly the MRI and write up from the reading Dr says otherwise. He has the personality of a brick wall.

Best Neurosurgeon in West Texas
Dr. Dorman performed an L 4-5 Laminectomy and a cyst removal in mid December. I was in a lot of pain and had a lot of nerve compression on my left leg. I was pain free immediately after surgery and I got discharged from the hospital on the same day. I definitely recommend Dr. Dorman. He is the best Neurosurgeon in the area. I feel great and I have zero pain. Thank you Dr. Dorman, you are the best!!!!!!!!

Top Neurosurgeon in Midland/Odessa
Dr. Dorman and his staff went above and beyond in all aspects of my care. Dr. Dorman performed a peer to peer with my insurance provider to obtain approval for necessary surgery. Very friendly staff. Kathy worked diligently on my case from star to finish. I had a wonderful experience.

Pain free!
I am pain free for the first time in 20 years!!! Dr. Dorman is incredible! His staff is amazing. I felt cared for and they heard me for the first time. I will recommend him to anyone needing surgery. His aftercare is wonderful. Midland Memorial Hospital cared for me after surgery as if I were family. If you are in pain please let them help you. I am so pleased and happy with them all.

Weird experience. Office staff was unorganized, paperwork missing, doctor was rude. The wait was forever and I was the first appointment, so they're super overscheduled. And when he did come in, he acted like he just didn't care to explain the condition of my spine to me. Now it's too late for the best result from surgery, so I'm not a candidate because he didn't know why my doctor sent me.

Although I found Dr. Dorman to be an extremely competent surgeon, there is a serious disconnect with patient relationships. Upon completion of my husbands surgery, he called me from the OR to let me know surgery went well. Total time of call = 44 seconds. Then he forgot to tell the nurses that I was in the waiting room, necessitating me waiting *3 hours* after surgery was completed to see my husband. Kept stating that he did not have biopsy results back, but referred us to an oncologist. Why if no results back, would we be referred to an oncologist???? I feel he just didn't want to share the results, and pawned that job off on the oncologist.

Everyone was so very nice, all the staff. Didn’t have to wait very long, and visit by nurses, his nurse ask questions, very concern about my back injuries. Dr. Came in and gave me hope on doing surgery on my back, the only doctor who has given me hope. Cared about my condition, my pain, and let me decide if and when he could do the surgery. Been in pain for 2years, all the doctors want to give pain pills but not talk about what Iwant, my pain. Dr. Dorman is kind, caring, the Lord led him to me!
