Waiting 3 hours!
I was left waiting in the exam room for 3 hours. Once he came in, he was very rushed and seemed to have made his mind up about my problem before even getting into the room. I have chronic sinus problems on one side. He measured my neck and told me that I have sleep apnea. I'm not sure I've ever been as upset and uncomfortable as I was in that appointment; I can say for certain that I've never had any other health care worker treat me as he did. I hear that he's a good surgeon, so if you are looking for a surgical recommendation, maybe this will be helpful.

Unfriendly and uncaring
This man is not doctor material. He is so cold and callous and unfriendly. Very uncomfortable with him and switched Drs.

Do not recommend
I don't know why he is still employed after reading the comments above. I waited for 30 minutes in the room for him to arrive. Then he came in the room for about 3 minutes and had to leave again. Apparently, he was on call with the ER. He seemed rushed and irritated. We discussed my issues and then he started explaining treatment options, but he moved back and forth between one issue and the other in such a way that I left not knowing which of the things he told me related to which issues he was addressing. Just a weird experience and I hope others don't walk away from his appointments wondering if they just misunderstood what he had to say. Nope, he's a poor communicator with crap bedside manners and obviously is distracted with other things while working with his patients.

Told son to use tap water for nasal rinse
Told my son to use tap water for nasal sinus rinse 3x a day when every single thing I’ve ever read and on directions on nasal rinse products says NEVER use tap water.

Very knowledgeable, prompt visit (did not have to wait. A fun personality. Told me what was needed to cut out to save my life. He did what was needed. He had me come for check ups quite frequently at the beginning and after five years, he said he was quite confident the cancer was GONE. He saved my life. Thanks Dr. Donavan, don't hurt your ankle again.

If I could give less I would.
He said I needed nasal surgery. I’ve had a collapsed nasal every since now I was told I can go to OSHU to see if they can even fix it at this point. That was my second opinion. I wished I had never met him. Just run. I was so much better than before he touched me.

Brusque, impatient, and no bedside manner
Went in with lingering nasal congestion and dry cough. He was brusque, impatient, and made me feel like I was wasting his time. Didn't ask a lot of questions, and proceeded to tell me I had acid reflux (because I have trouble getting to sleep, which is more mental than anything, and not what I was there for), gave me instructions for that and also told me to switch blood pressure meds because that could be causing my cough (that was the only valuable piece of info he gave me, and I already knew that). He went to leave the room like he was in a hurry, so I stopped him and asked about my congestion. He had squirted two somethings up my nose. Why do that if he wasn't going to look at my sinuses? He did a quick look with a scope and said, "no polyps" and that was that. I was dismissed. He might be good with surgical issues, but I will never go back to him.

I am new to Salem Oregon and had a reoccurrence of cancer. I was referred to Dr. Donovan’s office for surgery by my oncologist. Dr Donovan’s staff nurse and surgery scheduler moved quickly and were able to get me into the office quick. I met Dr. Donovan, staff fit me into his schedule and I was scheduled for surgery within a week from my appointment. Dr and staff were all professional, compassionate and efficient during this difficult time. I can’t say enough how much I appreciate your immediate care. I will return for follow ups and if any of my family needs care from Willamete ENT. Thank you Again! Diana N.

He seems very intelligent and knowledgeable. I have not experienced him as a surgeon. However, he is very condescending. Does not listen well. Answers questions, with "you're fine or everything is fine." with no other information. I tolerate pain well, but I do like to be prepared, just a comment like " this will hurt a bit" is helpful. He simply said, "I am going to remove the dried blood from your ear." And went to it. I nearly jumped out of my chair with pain. I've tolerated having a needle stuck in my eye without moving a muscle, but I was prepared by the physician. The nurse was very kind however and that is why I am returning to the clinic, but, with a different doctor.

My son had an appointment with him and we both left feeling traumatized, and hysterical. He was extremely rushed and acted annoyed that we got sent over. He was very rough and manhandled my 5 year old son who is normally a good patient as my son screamed. Dr Donovan roughly turned my son back and fourth as he gave no warning to what he was doing as he shoved an instrument into my sons ear to remove the tube that had fallen out. After that he roughly turned my son over and chuckled and said “if he says it hurts he’s lieing.” He then proceeded to put something in my sons severely infected ear without explaining as my son was still screaming and shaking from the other ear. He was attempting to suction the ear which my son didn’t allow. He then acted annoyed and forcefully put drops in his infected ear and pushed hardly 3 times while holding my son down to get the medicine in. He was very cold and had absolutely no compassion or comfort, it was an awful experience and we left traumatized.

Dr. Donovan removed my parathyroid in June, 2019. I felt confident about him doing my surgery after our first office visit. The surgery was successful and the scar is not even noticeable. The office staff and the nurses at the hospital were very friendly and helpful. I hope nothing ever comes up that I would have another issue like this but if I do, I will go back to Dr. Donovan.

Dr.Donovan does not work with disable children. He never read my sons chart to know he is AUTISTIC and has ANXIENTY. Did not listen to me When I warned him that my son is going to vomit while being strapped on his back. My son started to choke and the nurses didn’t do nothing just stare. He came back didn’t comfort my son, he was in a hurry to get us out. Horrible experience!!!

Dr. Donovan is superior in all aspects of patient care. He is personable and actually takes time with the patient and the family explaining personalized care. Dr. Donovan was highly recommended to me by my Primary Physician, noting he is an expert in his field. From the beginning, Dr. Donovan was very informative. I was persistent with wanting answers and even before the tests, he was accurate with his predictions and compassionate when informing me. He explained everything thoroughly and my wife and I felt safe and 100% confident in his care. He and Scott make a great team and I recommend them.

HORRIBLE traumatizing experience . Never will recommend this so called "doctor". Long story short, administered numbing agent eaiting less than a minute and started cutting away, I left in tears and barley able to catch my breath none the less talk. Not the only person either, after this day I looked him up and sae other people with similar experience.
