In my opinion, this Dr. is ordering expensive lab tests that are not medically necessary. This Dr. treats me for NO disease or condition, yet ordered expensive lab tests (tests were billed to and paid for by Medicare) without my knowledge or consent. We are talking thousands of dollars of labs that are not medically necessary. Said unnecessary labs have NEVER been received by patient or even discussed.

I recently had a distressing experience at a clinic that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. Despite seeking medical care, the service I received was below par, and the staff seemed indifferent to my concerns. It's disheartening when you place your trust in a healthcare facility and encounter such shortcomings. My hope is that by sharing my experience, it might prompt improvements in the quality of care for others."

Can't rate Dr. Dickson but PAs rate 5 stars
I have been a patient at this office for over 20 years and have seen Dr. Dickson perhaps twice during those years and he seemed distant and not friendly. I always saw his PAs, first it was Elizabeth Mathes and now I am seeing Leeann Carver. Both of these ladies are awesome. I live in New Braunfels, but I will drive all the way into San Antonio because Leeann Carver is that wonderful. I have had over the years problem with staff not following through and getting prescriptions renewed, but now I let my pharmacy take care of that.

Used to Be Great
Dr. Dickson is a good doctor, especially for geriatric patients. His PAs are also very good. Unfortunately, he takes far too many patients. His staff is extremely overwhelmed, you will sit for hours waiting to see him. They do not return phone calls. You will sit on hold for 15 to 20 minutes, they do not follow up on Records Requests, and they are still accepting new patients, which is insane. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for a physician. This one is just too busy and you will become quickly frustrated and disappointed.

Not Before or Since!!
Around the early 2000s, I relocated to San Antonio, TX to start my career as an educator. During that time, I started having stomach pains that were so bad that at times I could not walk. I knew that I had to see a doctor ASAP. Being new to area, I just found a doctor that was close to where I worked and could easily get to. Within a short time of seeing the doctor, he had my bloodwork as well as what he felt my problem was based on my symptoms, but of course, the bloodwork would determine whether his suspicions were accurate. A few days later, I received a call... It wasn't from medical staff, it was from Dr. Dixon himself. I had never received a call from a doctor who cared enough to take the time to personally call me to discuss my problem and prognosis and haven't had a doctor to do that since! It was at that point that Dr. Dixon the doctor above all doctors in my perspective. He never failed in being an attentive doctor. I would love to speak with him again... 20yrs later!

Reckless
It’s a constant struggle to get your RX refills! before his office went electronically there were more than one occasion ,that they ran out of script pads!! How is that even possible ! I have been waiting 3 weeks for him to submit my RX to my pharmacy. “The excuse now is that he got locked out of the system, I guess for the past 3wks he has been trying recover his password! His irresponsible behavior, could be detrimental to patients who rely and possibly die with out their medication!! He needs to stop being a man ho . And remember the OATH he took!!

Office Staff
Dr. Dickson should be concerned with his front office staff and their inappropriate management of prescriptions. It’s concerning and should be looked into.

Jan. 7, 2021 I took my 81 year old grandmother to her appt scheduled 10am. Small waiting room & during a pandemic they had 7 patients waiting for long periods of time, not to mention people waiting outside. Finally 1.5 I asked how much longer & was told we have 3 patients in front of us and cannot give a time frame. 15 minutes later we are taken to the exam room only to find out from the nurse the doctor is not even on-site and has not been there all morning. I demanded she see another doctor, was told no because they are all double booked. How do you double book clients during a pandemic and have them waiting in a small waiting room? How do you lie to your patients about the doctor seeing patients when he is not there? Reckless!!!!

Dr. Dickson has bee ordering "Dr. Dickson's Labs" for years and sending them to a laboratory that is not in network for his patients. Patients saw EOBs and were told by his office don't worry you won't get a bill. Well now all of his patients for which he sent these labs in 2016 are receiving not only bills from this lab but they've been sent to collection and the doctor is doing nothing. I've had to contact a lawyer for almost $25,000 in lab bills that were NOT authorized by me. I am not alone there are many others.

The receptionist was very rude and appeared miserable!! I should have never even taken the appointment. If she was nasty on phone of course she’s going to be at the office. I had to wait 2 hours for an appointment with PA.. not even the Doctor himself! Listen folks... find another clinic instead of healing ME!! They made ME very ill!!!

A year ago hospital noticed black spot on my dad’s lung. Dickson never did any tests. Two weeks ago father complained of back pain – we took him to ER. CTScan showed advanced cancer. How could Dickson not catch this with all appointments we’ve had? A clean bill of health from Dickson to advanced cancer? Dickson refused to sign Hospice order. It took assistance of Hospice and family attorney. Did Dickson’s refusal to sign, and losing a patient, outweigh my dad’s need for care?

I only see dr Dickson because his office staff is so nice. They understand he’s always beh8nd on his schedule and try to ease the wait. I see his assistants who are very cute. I’m good with that. I wish every doctor had cute girls to take my blood pressure. Makes the cost worth it. Ok. Dr Dixon seems to know what he’s doing too. But who cares when the assistant girls are hot.

I have been truly blessed to make Sonterra Internal Medicine my primary care facility. I have been with them for the past two years. This office provided friendly, professional, considerate customer care. And the staff does their due diligence to ensure you are properly taken care of. They can get packed on the scheduling. However, they always find a way to give each customer the time and attention they need. I would highly refer Dr. Dickeson's office to my friends without any hesitation!

Personally,I don't mind waiting to see the doctor. If he spends more time with a patient,he'll spend more time with me when necessary. I found Dr.Dickson to be attentive;hearing me is important. A new relationship with a PCP takes time. Trust & honesty are imperative. He isn't the type to coo & hold your hand...I don't care. I want a competent doctor who listens & trusts me until I prove differently. His NP is stellar...very thorough. If you're upset by a wait, schedule your appt. accordingly.
