Dr. John Dewitt, MD

In March 2023 I was patient of Dr. DeWitt, I was sedated for the procedure. After the procedure when I regained consciousness I realize I had damage to my two lower front teeth. Tried to resolve the matter with IU patient relation to no avail.

I recently took my family member to see Dr. Dewitt. The Dr. took time to explain everything in detail and broke it down so we could understand. He was more helpful than anyone else due to his extensive knowledge and experience. I am very appreciative and grateful and would recommend Dr. Dewitt to anyone asking.

Had G-POEM surgery May 2021. Dr Dewitt chewed the RN out in front of us. She had done nothing wrong. He stormed out of the room & got my chart, ripped up the consent I had signed that he said was wrong. I was bawling & he didn't care my anxiety was off the charts. He didn't even go talk to my Husband after the surgery. The next morning he was still very short when he came in to release me. IDK if he was having a bad day the day before, but I feel Dr's are held to a higher standard & there was no excuse for how he treated myself, the RN or even my Husband. I had POEM surgery with him 2 months prior to this & he was totally different. Super kind & caring. So, IDK if we caught him on a good day 2 months before or on a bad day this time. Either way, I will not be following up with him further at all. I just hope no one else has to go through being treated like this by him. That is the reason for my review.

He is great. I have been to him many times for dilations. He is professional and very good about answering questions. I would highly recommend him.

Cold, uncaring, unwilling to investigate medical issues with chronic conditions. Does not take the time to research what could be happening with his patient. If he doesn’t see anything typical, you are deemed fine. No matter if you had the condition twice already and now have several chronic illnesses that can compound the previous condition, ie, Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction.

Was the most arrogant Doctor ever. Was rude to the nurses in the procedure room. Told my husband and myself that he didn't understand why my Gastroenterologist had me on medication for EPI and that I most definitely did not have pancreatitis. Got a letter from him a month or so later stating that I did in fact have Chronic Pancreatitis and that I should stay on the EPI medication and to make an appointment with my Gastroenterologist for any follow up questions. Never had an office visit.
