Dr. John Depowell, MD

He listened, was kind, and did not make me feel unbelieved or belittled. I am very impressed with him. I go back on the 1st for discussions of my issue. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Depowell.

I would absolutely recommend Dr DePowell to anyone looking for a spinal surgeon. Despite the complexity of the work that will need to be done, Dr. DePowell gave me the confidence to move forward explaining that the surgery won’t really be any more difficult for me, only more difficult for him. He explained the options and the reason for possibly being a bit more aggressive in his approach, to avoid another revision down the road. This will be my 4th surgery (the most recent of which was 7 years ago), but the first done here in the Indy area. I’m thankful for searching out a second opinion.

Dr. DePowell was very professional and listened to me as a person. While my prognosis was not what I expected, we didn’t rush into any quick answers and made a plan with an adjustment in my physical therapy.

I felt at home with Dr. DePowell the first visit. He did a WONDERFUL job on my spine. There was four different problems with my back and he fix all with two rods and eight screws. Six months after surgery I feel GREAT for the first time in 20 years.

Dr. DePowell monitored my condition and counseled me on surgery to straighten my spine for 2 years. I was hesitant to proceed with this extensive surgery, I finally chose to proceed, based primarily upon my high level of confidence in Dr. DePowell. During the 7 hour surgery he screwed 4 metal rods in the spine, from T-2 to the pelvis and also performed a fusion on the lower section of the spine. The surgery was a complete success and the follow-up attention has been excellent. He has a wonderful bedside manner, patience in answering questions without using technical terms that I couldn't understand, and finally never rushing me to get to the next appointment. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Dr. Depowell did a 3 fusion back surgery a year ago for me. It was very successful. He is awonderfully caring doctor. I feel he is the most capable surgeon I could have chosen. I had 2 previous unsuccessful back surgeries by spine doctors and I believe because he is a neurosurgeon,he knows more about my condition. He is very personable.
