Horrible Doctor, if he’s there LEAVE!
I went to the ER in severe pain, recently had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer. He was asking the normal questions and I informed him I do not accept blood. He stormed out and says out loudly before the door shut behind him “great she doesn’t accept blood” when he came back much later I told him I was in so much pain and he said “well yea you’re bleeding into your chest” he’s extremely rude and unprofessional. My husband got me out of there and we went to Henrico doctors where they moved fast and were so considerate and had enough experience to know that not accepting blood is a minor issue. I had a emergency surgery and the hematoma was corrected with no need for blood. He didn’t have the experience to perform surgery on me in the first place so there was no need for him to even make an issue over it. I’ll never go back to vcu in Tappahannock he did not care about my life quite literally.

Our ER experience with John Coyner was flat out bizarre. He literally never stood up, made a diagnosis without touching the patient, then never even explained what the diagnosis meant. If I ever show up again and he’s on duty I will demand another physician! Do not waste your time with this man.

Elderly patient - Spent limited time on exam + limited tests. Misdiagnosed patient and sent home with two prescriptions and instruction to make appointment with outpatient specialist. Patient returned to ER 7 hrs later by EMS in dire condition. Diagnosed with meningitis by different ER MD at same hospital necessitating 10 day hospitalization & 2 weeks in rehab. Cannot recommend.

There is nothing good to be said about this physician. I took my daughter to St. Francis Watkins center for 105 fever. Even after I asked for a strep and flu test, all he did was chest X-rays. He sent us home stating she had viral bronchitis. After 5 more days of high fever, I took her back to her pediatrician. She has strep and walking pneumonia. She was prescribed the appropriate antibiotics and is now recovering. If this doc had done the appropriate test, she would be better by now!

He was the most unprofessional physician I have ever had dealings with. As I was having serve muscle twitching and muscle achiness and neck pain. Had not slept in 3/days ..He says nothing we can do here in the ER here at St.Marys. We inabate and deal with true emergencies. I said well I can leave then and go to Patient First he said I will do a work up.on you for dizziness.. I responded I'm dizzy becuase I haven't slept in days..Sent me out the door.Waste of time and money.
