After experiencing episodes of tremendous pain and visiting the ER three times at Winchester medical center, finically my very large kidney stones were spotted on imaging. I was told to see a urologist ASAP, so I called the urology group the hospital recommended and they could not see me for many months. I googled and found Dr. Chesson and he was able to see me fast due to the urgency of my large kidney stones, Dr. Chesson spent over two hours explaining everything in detail and treated me like family. I can’t say enough great things about him and his staff they are caring and kind to all my patient needs. I highly recommend Dr. Chesson for all of your urology needs. What a blessing he was through my two surgeries. I feel it was meant to be that I’ve come across him and his practice as I am always very nervous about being put to sleep. Dr Chesson has a Great bedside manner. His staff Kelly and assistant Kay are Amazing!!!! I would recommend this practice to any one.

Excellent Urologist and pleasant medical practice
I saw Dr. Chesson for the first time in April 2023, from the moment I called the office I was impressed with the courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism of the staff. When I met Dr. Chesson I was equally impressed. He is understanding, compassionate, professional and very personable. He gave me all the time I needed, he reviewed my medical history in depth and listened to my concerns. He also answered my questions and explained my options. Dr. Chesson is an impressive urologist, and he genuinely cares about his patients. I was previously at another Urology practice that was not responsive to my needs. I only saw Physicians Assistants’ never the doctor; I am exceedingly happy I changed to a practice that provides the patient with personal attention with a physician. My experience with Dr. Chesson at Valley Urology has been one of the best patient-doctor experiences I have ever had. I highly recommend Dr. Chesson at Valley Urology.

Top Doc
As someone with health issues requiring treatment by seven highly qualified medical specialists, I have encountered just about every issue experienced by patients in the process of healthcare administration. Dr. Chesson earned my “Top Doc” rating primarily because of his track record of developing an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan. Dr. Chesson maintains a meticulous focus on the patient, has a personable demeanor, tell it like it is style, and an ability to explain complicated medical issues in an understandable common sense way.

Simply the kindest and best!
Dr. Chesson first introduced himself then took me to his office to discuss my healthcare, his system pulls medical history from many sources, he already had much information and we reviewed it together. We then discussed all my meds and current symptoms. He had his assistant do a cathetrrization for a clean urine specimen. We regrouped and told me what he wanted me to do, I have many, many allergies to antibiotics, after taking the medication, I am no longer in stress and my high fevers are gone. I am scheduled for a followup visit and some further studies. I am and girl. Have been the gamut with physicians and I never have felt so cared for, appreciated, and confident in any Physician I have ever visited!

Have been seeing Dr. Chesson for 15 years. Part medical doctor and part scientist. I appreciate his professional curiosity and believe that keeps him abreast of medical advances as well as begin grounded in what works. Appointments are NEVER rushed and that can cause delays in the waiting room. Having access to quality medical care like this is, in my opinion, worth the occasional wait. While the office is sometimes quite busy, his assistant Ashley remains pleasant, thorough and professional.

My first consultation with John Chesson MD was efficient, thorough, and entirely satisfactory. As other patients have testified, Dr. Chesson listens carefully and explains medical matters in necessary detail. He seems appropriately conservative in his recommendations and clearly seeks to minimize medical interventions. Above all, Dr Chesson does not allow himself to be rushed in consultation. Many physicians give the impression that one is wasting their time but nowadays physicians must manage a tsunami of patients, so hurrying a patient along is necessary.

I took my 86 year old mother to see Dr. Chesson yesterday. She was very nervous about the procedure she needed to have done. Dr. Chesson is a great doctor. He spends a lot time with his patients. He explains everything in detail and makes the patient feel comfortable and relaxed. He has a great bedside manner and a great personality. It is wonderful after taking my mother to many doctors to experience one like Dr. Chesson.

I’ve seen Dr Chesson now for about 9 months for Low T. I appreciate his conservative approach to understanding the root cause of the Low T scores rather than shoving a “membership” for replacement therapy. I also chose Dr. Chesson for my vasectomy and it was a great experience....as great as you can have with that procedure. You may have to wait to see him but its because he gives every patient as much attention as needed. Just call ahead and see if he’s running behind and grab a coffee.

I began seeing Dr. Chesson in January 2018 for elevated PSA (23). We tried a few things, but ultimately decided that we needed a biopsy and later an MRI and CT scan. Eventually, we decided that a radical prostatectomy was needed and UVA was the best choice for that surgery. After the surgery, the team of doctors at UVA seemed to be all over the place with opinions, but Dr. Chesson was steady and his opinions never changed and he was WAY more right than all of the doctors at UVA.
