relieved and reassured
I didn't understand why my my primary referred me to a kidney doctor, they never told me anything was wrong, then I read in my visit summary and it said I had stage 3 kidney disease. I have never been so shocked in my life. I started reading about diets and things to do, as my appointment was over a month away. My husband also did some research and instead of the office we were referred to, was able to get me in to see Dr Canterbury within a day of calling. It was a reassuring experience, I may have kidney disease, but it is mild and to quote Dr Canterbury 'forget about the kidney diet, it's awful, and you will loose out on a lot of good things, we recommend you exercise, avoid sugar as much as you can and try to limit processed food, but your kidneys should be fine either way' he also reassured me it was overwhelmingly likely 'my kidneys will outlive me'!! I had read about dialysis and was terrified.

quality care
We spend about eighth months out of the year in Naples but had been hesitant switching our healthcare to Florida, worried that the quickest way to good care was a flight from Fort Myers back to New Jersey. However, this practice inspired confidence and we are happy to have made the switch!

not an established patient, but needed to be seen on Christmas Eve, was able to get in right away, nothing to do for my issue, but reassured, and probably saved several hours sitting in an ER or Urgent Care, thank you!

taking care of my blood pressure
couldn't get an appointment with anyone in Fort Myers, but was able to get a Saturday appointment at this office in Naples, and I wish I had known about this place sooner, my blood pressure is finally under control and I am on less medication! Office can be hard to find, sort of behind a big hospital, kind of tricky to find entrance for the office parking lot, and they don't let you park in the hospital lot across the street...

excellent
only concern would be wait times, but for same day appointments, and almost walk-in availability for established patients, I am guessing it can be hard to stay on schedule, watched one little lady show up and apparently was supposed to be there another day, clearly confused, but the staff was understanding, caring, and put her in a room and she was seen almost right away, probably without even knowing she wasn't supposed to have even been there, LOL, anyway, for me, I am healthy like a horse, don't need to see the doctor, but company wants me to, so here I am, at least feel comfortable knowing that if I do need someone, this is the place to go, very professional and knowledgeable!

many of their staff out sick, had to wait a bit, but still able to see me for a same day appointment, and when I was seen, they took time to understand and help me, unless an ER, most outpatient offices, would have just turned you away without an appointment, especially when short staffed

I give the office 4.5 stars and "round up," because I really like the doctor, very good care, but they need to communicate better for how they handle refill requests. They want you to get in touch with the office directly, could be phone call or patient portal, and they don't take requests from pharmacies. They say, this is to minimize medication mistakes and errors. This is is fine, but it needs to be communicated clearly, especially for new patients, who may be used to a different system, otherwise no complaints...

Dr. Canterbury is an excellent physician but his front office is a chronic problem. Requests do not seem to reach him, responses tend not to occur and it`s always someone else in the office`s fault.

In the "age of the COVID," at first, was hesitant about coming in to a doctor's office, they also offer telemedicine, but since I am a new patient, wanted to meet the doctor in person, and I am glad I did, they have limited in the office appointments, so was not crowded, and everyone wears a mask, staff are helpful and efficient, the doctor takes his time going through everything, did not feel rushed and all my questions were satisfactorily answered, after a long relationship with my excellent doctor in New Hampshire, unfortunately retiring, and us spending about 8 months out of the year in Florida, I am very satisfied to have found a new practice to establish a long term relationship!

I’ve been a patient of Dr Canterbury’s for the last two years and couldn’t be more happy. He has helped cure several illnesses I’ve been living with for some time. I’ve never had an emergency so I can’t comment there but he has always been accessible to me.

Dr Canterbury is my mother’s primary care physician and he is smart and competent,he is however 100% unreliable in responding in emergency situations. This has proven to be the case time and time again with both my now deceased father and my mother who is now currently hospitalized. Dr. Canterbury never responds to phone calls or follows up, 100% no response to multiple phone calls on numerous occasions when both my father and mother have been in serious need in the emergency room and hospit

Best doctor I've had since my youth. Dr. Canterbury is amazing. He has an incredible knowledge of all medical fields, connects symptoms to make correct diagnosis. I had an issue for years that my previous doctor had no idea of why I had the issue. I mentioned it to Dr. Canterbury, he changed my high blood pressure medication, and the issue when away. He has done the same on other issues many times since. He spends the time to explain to you the medical reasons for your aliments.
