For Dayton, Would Recommend
I have a long history seeing and being diagnosed and treated by Dr. V. Condition was initially migraine and the 2 separate seizures. Dr. V. Is thorough with his evaluation and neurological tests ordered. I hate taking medication and he knew it because I challenged him several times. I did start taking the meds to prevent any future seizures but continued to question medication versus life changes. These now, are my words. . He scolded me in a way that seemed to hint at superiority. I laughed and indicated I was easily intimidated by him. His suggestion. . .possibly go see another Neurologist. Honestly, I was offended and quite unimpressed at his opportunity to educate me. I took it as, 'Okay, I'm gonna take my ball and run home'. My wife was with me. Once in the car, she shared similar thoughts. Actually, we got a good laugh, unfortunately at his expense. I moved on to a younger, more vibrant and current research focused Neurologist in CincyNKY. I love this doctor.

Made it easy and almost enjoyable
I recently visited the office for some tests that were not the most pleasant. Dr. Vandersluis and the other technician made it as pleasant as possible. I almost enjoyed it! So, thank you to them.

Not the best fit for me
I first saw Dr. Vandersluis for my Parkinsonism in Jan 2023. The doctor listened well, ordered me medication, personally conducted EMG and later EEG and some other tests in his office by his staff. He also referred me to the Kettering hospital which confirmed my disease through a DaTscan test. I was happy and grateful for the doctor's attention. Later, I had informed the doctor that I was researching what other options are available to me for Parkinsons considering Sinemet was first approved by the FDA in 1975. However, on my first follow up with Dr.Vandersluis in April 2023, he said that seeking other opinions devalued his advice & he wasn't comfortable with it. He also suggested that I could seek services from some other neurologists. I was taken aback by the doctors' opinion considering that I had a serious illness, & he (or no one else) should stop me from being proactive in my treatment. I had not sought to see another doctor until then but his suggestion has forced me to find

First visit in what will be a long diagnostic process. Referred by and recommended by family physician. Stay was a long one due to considerable first visit paperwork and the length of time the assistant and physician spent with patient, i.e. a good thing. Following comprehensive work-up, five tests and referrals were scheduled to include one where foreign language translation will be made available. We are pleased at the rapid response and ability to schedule future tests. Good visit.

I'm a long time patient of Dr. Vandersluis. He and his staff have always taken very good care of me. They give 100% to patients with very serious and complicated medical conditions yet still maintain a personal connection. Dr. Vandersluis has been a huge factor for over 20 years in my being able to be as healthy as I can be while dealing with a serious disease. Thanks doc
