Dr. Joanna Maurice, MD

My opinion of Dr Maurice was that she was very caring and passionate about getting my dad better both while in the Hospital and extending the need for care long term at home. She took a lot of time talking to me via phone calls an explaining the best course of action for a speedy recovery and continued plans for when released, could not ask for any better.

Dr. Maurice didn’t listen to me and it was clear she didn’t respect me as a patient. I have a right to participate in my own care, and she denied that right by being overly opinionated and flat out wrong. She did assemble a care team, so for that I give 2 stars. But I asked to see a neurologist and an endocrinologist during my stay and was denied, and sent a nutritionist instead. Months after my hospital visit and thousands of dollars later, I find out my issue wasn’t cardiac after all. I understand it needed to be ruled out, but she was smug and dismissive if I questioned anything ir tried to participate in my own care. Now it frustrates me when I have the same issue and have been recommended to see an endo and a neurologist. She also ordered a test incorrectly and I had to repeat it elsewhere, and all the recommendations she made were shot down by specialists. She seemed more interested in proving she could provide care than actually providing it.
