Dr. Joanna Kemp, MD

She is an amazing neurosurgeon. Our son had a case that could have required permanent hardware when he was only 10weeks old, but she was more than willing to see how he did with the alternate route, that worked, before jumping into hardware. During the decision, she let us choose if we wanted the quick and sure fix with hardware or see how he did with a natural less sure fix. She ensured we had all of the facts so we could make an informed decision and she is and will always be the only person we trust with our son’s brain. During one of the scariest times, talking to her was always something that gave us peace. It definitely takes a different type of person to be able or willing to perform surgery on a child in general, but to perform surgery on a child’s brain…to say I appreciate her would be an understatement. Her bedside manner is very straight and to the point and though her time is incredibly valuable, she always took the time to make sure we understood everything she was saying.

Dr Kemp is a gifted Neurosurgeon, who thoroughly evaluates the Patient’s condition and situation, to determine the best holistic course of action. Her individualized approach to her consultation and recommended surgical repairs, gave me the best possible outcome that I hoped to achieve. I’m completely satisfied and relieved with the results of Dr Kemp’s medical efforts.

We couldn’t find a health professional that was willing to help my husband. We were told about Dr Kemp. She looked at all of his tests and agreed to take his case. She was so caring and compassionate. She spoke to our family in terms we could understand. Our stress level couldn’t have been higher and she took control of his case and was very confident about doing the surgery. We were so relieved after she met with us and was willing to help. My husband had a metal plate and 3 screws in his throat from a surgery done 24 years ago. The screws started backing out and the plate had been moving pressing against his trachea and esophagus. I believe that if this hardware was not removed it would eventually have cut off his air. He was struggling to breathe and because he smoked the other doctors just said it was from smoking and that he must have COPD . Finally we found someone that would listen to us that his throat was getting closed off. I thank God we found Dr Kemp in time.

Dr. Kemp performed brain surgery on my 6 month old baby and I am so glad that we received her care. She is so knowledgeable, and helped us understand what exactly she was doing. She helped ease our nerves in a very scary time.

I could not see Dr Kemp coz I wouldn't agree to a surgery that is very rude she her self could of explained the surgery to me but didn't she will talk to me when I make a decision ha

Absolutely intelligent and always caring! Dr Kemp is so aware of rare side effects and willing to accept them as the issue and discover facts and treatments for our girl!

Would not recommend! Focused on pain management instead of fixing the problem!

Dr. Kemp is one of the most compassionate physicians I have ever met. She is extremely competent, down to earth, and trustworthy! We were lucky to have her as our physician.
