Dr. Joan Leavens, MD

I have a complex medical condition and Dr. Leavens was up to date with the treatments and explained the options thoroughly. She knows her stuff.

I recently saw Dr. Leavens and she was so amazing!! She answered all of my questions and was very knowledgeable and respectful regarding my concerns. I never felt rushed or pressured to do anything and I could tell that she genuinely cared about my concerns. She also did cosmetic treatments on me and I’ve never looked or felt better! I definitely recommend her for all of your medical and cosmetic dermatology needs. Her assistants are kind and thoughtful and you can tell that Dr. Leavens is a great leader and treats her team with respect!

Dr. Leavens is great. She's very nice and has never tried to push any cosmetic procedures on me. I have only gone to her for medical dermatology concerns and I don't feel rushed. She's easy to talk to and seems willing to take the time to explain things to me thoroughly. She generally also writes down her treatment plans which is helpful later on. I have recommended her to friends and family.

I saw Dr. Leavens for a bump that grew within a birthmark and she correctly diagnosed it as a skin cancer. She did a same day biopsy, gave me the path results within a few days, and I was scheduled for Mohs surgery a couple weeks later. I am very pleased with the overall efficiency and thoroughness. Her assistant was also very nice. Highly recommend.

I saw Dr. Leavens for a skin problem that another dermatologist was unable to solve. She listened to my concerns and came up with an effective treatment plan. She was patient, funny, and made me feel super comfortable. Would highly recommend!

Dr. Leavens rushed through my appointment, didn't listen and seemed bothered by my questions. She then carved a slice out of my leg for a biopsy that took 6 weeks to heal. In the end, at a yearly check up did not remove any skin tags and said I would have to come back for that. That was the reason I was there in the first place. She needs to learn how to be a better doctor who takes her time and listens. I will not be seeing her again.

The assistant never smiled once, was very unfriendly and cold. Didn't seem to care about me at all, never once introduced himself nor made any attempt to be friendly. When I struggled to answer a question I wasn't prepared for they just stared at me blankly without helping me. Felt stressed and uncared for. The doctor seemed to rush me and not take a clear look at anything. They wrote down some fast things and rushed out the door. My wait time was longer than the appointment time. The instructions they gave me weren't even fully legible with no explanation. Would never recommend. She doesn't care about you nor does her assistant in the least....
